Couldnt you install some thing to keep the water moving to prevent freezing?
get a loon
That water would have to be moving pretty fast in order for it not to freeze.
Best bet if there’s a concern of freezing is put a heater in.
They make heaters that float . You just need a small areas for gases to exchange during the winter.
Do NOT use a tarp or a pool liner. Shit will leach into the water and KILL your fish !. See this shit all the time testig water. They give me a water sample to test and its blue. The tarp color is blue. Yes it can hold water .But over a period of time the color will leach out .
Sometimes, but not always. I will snap a photo or two of mine tonight, moving the water helps.
Yea I will also take a few pics and upload them later on.
The small mouth will dye quickly. Had a 3’-7’ deep 1000’s of gallon pond and it wasn’t nearly big enough to keep them alive. Crappie and Bluegil will work, good for eating mosquito larve too. Moving water is a must for O2 & bug prevention, not just for freezing. You can buy a small bubbler for the winter (marine catalog) for pretty cheap.
adam , a pool line would work fine… and if you need one im sure i got one laying around that cant be used in a pool again that you could use for this
Wouldnt a pool liner have residual chemicals in it? Harming the fish?
i have a small pond thats about 5-6 wide and about 2-3 deep. that little pond requires enough work for me. i couldnt imagine the work to keep up a large pond but if you have fish and set it up correct it can be fairly self sufficient. good luck is all i can say.
i will personally be digging more of this bitch at 3 today for free beer.
DO NOT USE POOL LINER !!!
Use your body work skills and lay some wire mesh down and mix up some thick concrete!
thats what i was thinking for it, more costly and more labor intensive but a good idea.
i just want to thank u for both being huge BITCH ASSES and ditching me all week at the gym. u can both go fuck yourself.
sincererly Tom Slick
:rofl ^^
Thanks for all the input guys! Me and Pauly got alot done today, the pond is roughed out and looking good. Its almost 4’ at the deep end and Im going to make the shallow end 18’’ tomorrow then the digging will be all done. Oh, Im def not using pool liner, I dont want ANY issues in a ~3000G pond that I have to deal with lol. Duke, Ill have to talk to you more about the filtration and where I go from the diggin phase and whatnot.
(Adam on Fagboys s/n:lol)
Yea, just call me or text lmk
Who do you work for? Line-X in Saratoga wanted $450 when my brother called and Line-X in Schenectady was atleast $500.
Ive got a plastic liner that Ill probably leave in it now.
lmk about the electric i have lots of conduit and wire…how about a hot tub heater for the winter??? mabey use the jets and pump to circulate it in the winter??..the heater cud prolly run at low and shud keep it from freezing easily…
I dug it 4’ so I dont need to use a heater, and it will have an aerator to keep things movin
