snow tires > AWD… especially since this crash situation wasn’t related to accelerating rather trying desperately and failing to stop. Snow tires + abs (supplement ABS for braking technique but we’re talking ‘the average driver’ so that wouldn’t work) might have given people a fighting chance of their cars surviving that mess.

That road must have gone downhill something fierce. That van just kept sliding sideways after sitting still no way if the road was flat it woulda kept going. Gotta suck just sitting there hoping you’ll stop but having absolutely no control weather or not it would stop or not.
