07 CSS issues

okay well I’ve been having some issues with my SS the past couple days. The radio does not work when the headlight switch is in auto, but if i turn it on the radio works. When the switch is in auto the radio displays the CD emblem and another emblem that looks like a phone.

I disconnected the battery and it didn’t do anything. any ideas?

There is also another problem…

I always warm the car up before work…so I go outside to start it…nothing. The starter clicks but the engine doesnt turn over. Yes I know, the battery must be dead, but here is my question…from what? I didn’t leave anything on overnight, it was driving perfectly normal last night, the charging light hasnt come on, no CEL…nothing. Also when I put the key in and turned it on, Service Air Bag came up and the ABS light came on…could this be from the battery dying? Anyone have any ideas?

no warranty?

yes it has a warranty but i live out in the middle of no where now.

i couldnt push start it by myself, i’m going to jump it tonight when i get home and check things over. If I can’t find anything it’s going to West-Herr this week.

i’ve never heard of any of these issues before. the cobalts have a battery run down protection system that cuts power after i think 10 minutes. So if you did leave any lights on it will cut power to them. I have gotten in my car many times and noticed i left a map light on.

hmm…i didn’t know this. I know for a fact that I didn’t leave any lights on, I always double check before I get out of the car.

what have you put in it, sounds like a short.

electrical wise…I have my Passport 8500 hardwired in along with an aeroforce interceptor gauge. I don’t think it’s either of these because they don’t have power until i turn the key on.

no radio or anything like that?

what did you hard wire into for the passport as there are not many available key on things to tap into. for my remote wire i tapped my electric power steering fuse but if it blows it also blows my interior lights. what i suggest is you take a test light and check some fuses. i got a few hours before i goto bed ill take a look at that wiring diagram.

acc is brown

i wired the passport and gauge into a little fuse kit and used an empty spot in the fuse box under the passenger side kick panel.

The BCM (Body Control Module) was brought up in a thread i have on cobaltss.net

anyone have an idea what this does, where it is and what is spliced into it?

Also I have one more question, is the power wire to the headlights always hot? the passenger side ballast for my HID’s has a grounding issue and doesn’t always turn on. just trying to brainstorm some ideas lol

take the hids out and the other wired stuff and take it to the dealer i hope you t tapped or fuse tapped

everything is fuse tapped, I haven’t touched any of the factory wiring.

add a fuse ftw

i say take the hids out so its one less variable.

unhooked any of the other stuff to see if any of the issues go away?

well first off i’m going to charge the battery and jump the car and go from there. If it’s still acting shady i’m going to start taking things out one by one. I hope I can get it running and holding a charge tonight, idk how i’ll get it back to buffalo if I can’t.

:edit:

I won’t be able to post any updates tonight because I don’t have internet at my apartment yet. If anyone has any ideas please shoot me a text 716-319-4851 cough greenbull, nitroinsane cough

UPDATE:

Well two nights ago I jumped the car. It started right up and so far the car hasn’t had any issues. The radio is working correctly and the battery seems to be holding a charge.
