07 WRX TR 18g build thread

The Car- 2007 Subaru WRX TR

The Goal-
11-second ¼ mile pass (consecutive 11 second passes I’ll be happy with 11.999). I’d like to achieve this goal at full weight.

History- Stock turbo yielded 250awhp and 300ft/lbs of tq on Moon Performances Mustang Dyno. I was able to crank out multiple 13.3 ¼ mile passes with mild mods (turbo back, fmic, fuel pump, intake, custom tune)
See below for time slip and dyno sheet

The Mods-
ARC Front Mount Intercooler
ARC Short Ram Intake
Invidia G200 Cat Back 3"
Invidia Downpipe 3"
APS Blow Off Valve
Walboro 255lph fuel pump
Forced Performance td05 18g
Deatschwerks 750cc Injectors
AP Turbo Inlet 2.5"
Helix EWG Up pipe 38mm
Tial Wastegate
STI type ra se cryo treated gear set
Labonte Alcohol Injection Kit
Custom tune by Moon Performance

Not sure if I need the last 2 mods to accomplish my goal any opinions?

How big is that downpipe? I wouldn’t go with anything less than 2.75-3". Also, a tune should be a definite, rather than a maybe. Even if you don’t reach your goal, at least with a tune you know the engine will have a much better chance of lasting.

Sounds like a solid build up.

the dp is 3"s and the car will go back to Moon Performance for another tune with the new turbo

Can’t…wait…for…warm…weather! Or to drive up to Moon with you again to get it tuned! Always a good time. And we have to remember to get you your glasses!

sounds pretty sweet…i love the way they sound…go for 11s with full i gotta give you credit i wouldve gutted it by now…well good luck with the build

Equal length is a great tool to improve the setup you already have, but the gain it gives you isn’t that impressive for the money, that can be spend else where to get to your goal of 11’s. Weither traction, weight, or other means of power.

Ball bearing turbo upgrade with supporting mods and regular style manifold (or stocker with proper flange) should get you into 11’s.

tubular manifolds kill spool hardcore. Plus I don’t know the hp numbers are what everyone with one wants to beleive they are. Sure when you building a really big car…and you go from a stock manfold with an adapter plate to tubular bigger manifold your HP will go up but I don’t know that a bigger cast manfiold wouldnt give you the same power with faster spool time.

Ehh its easter and im bored… Heres the stack-o-engine toys awaiting install. Still waiting on my gearset from Gruppe-S along with a fuel cell from Snow Performance for my alky injection. O and a sneak peak at the new beater wheels. Enjoy!

The wheels are 17X8 45mm offset Enkei RPF1. Not sure what rubber I’m going to use yet but most likely a 235/45 of some sort.

Awesome realistic goal. Glad you are doing it at full weight.

Stick with the good bang-for-buck mods.

Good luck.

i think you are going to be very happy with the spool of the td05h 7cm 18g on the 2.5 jon. internally gated on pump id expect 315/315 uncorrected @ moon on ~20 psi… 345/370 on meth… these are my predictions. cant wait to see the results… not a huge fan of the enkei’s but to each their own.

Read the mods again. Car wont be internally gated. Ill prolly be running around 28psi on this setup as well. Seth is calling for 350/370 cant wait for adam to get his hands on it. Cant go wrong with the enkei’s weighing in at 15.5lbs per wheel.

Reading comprehension > Travis

i missed the external gate part, BUT i almost NAILED the predictions on meth… i said 345/370… i wasnt that far off.

Car will be spraying alcohol not meth

hooray for warm weather coming

Any particular reason why alcohol over meth?

alcohol yields similar results and is not as corrosive as meth…little easier on the car in the long run and you don’t have to play with meth. methanol is not a fun substance to handle when pure…the shit is ridiculously toxic and shitty to handle. i used to hate mixing meth with water. unless you spend bundles on pre mixed stuff it sucks. alky you buy in a drum from a lowes or hom edepot and toss it in and you’re done with it.

I should have been clear. I wonder why not use a WWF mixture.

nice build! :nod

Nailed the offset.
