Is this a decent timeslip?
i was at lancaster today. What a waste of time.:picard:
what were you driving?
launch harder next time. awd should have 1.4-1.5 60ft’s all day. not bad otherwise

ehhh? a car running 8’s will never have a 1.4 lol
if you launch an sti hard enough, i think you can see a 1.5 out of the hole. you can get a great 60ft with an awd car, even without a lot of power. sti’s have pretty sticky tires to begin with too.

tru my low-power non-sti 2.0liter WRX put down 1.64 60 fts
not bad, the time will come down once you lower those 60’s
Doesn’t look bad .663 RT try going when the third yellow lights up

Agreed about the 1.4’s. Can’t imagine seeing a car hit that number that’s not putting out 400+, and given the 80mph trap, this car is closer to 240 at the wheels.
It was 94 degrees out yesterday also… Go again on a cooler day, you’ll see a better time.
This is the first time I’ve taken it to the track, so I don’t really have much to compare it to. I was putting up better times than allot of the cars there, but I’m not really sure if that means that I ran well or not. I don’t know what is considered a good 60’ time, or reaction. It looks like I should be shooting for a 1.5 second 60’. What is a good reaction time?
I had the Blue Subaru.

if you’re stock, you’re not getting a 1.5 60’ unless you get blasted from behind by a bus.
good reaction time…if the track uses a .500 base, then a .550 or better is good, if they use a .000 base, then a .050 or better is good.
That’s a pretty good ET considering you’re trapping under 80. It’ll take a while to get your reaction times into the mid-low .500’s. Not sure when you were launching, but the general rule of thumb is to go when you actually see the last yellow, not when you anticipate it, and definitely not when you see green. Once you’ve got that down, if you watch the lights carefully you’ll notice how each yellow light gets brighter as it lights up and gets dimmer as it turns off, and you can further dial in when you want to leave.

heh…and if you’ve raced…a lot…you’ll notice your reaction times dropping as evening sets in due to being able to see bulb filaments better.
Holy crap. I was trying to go after seeing the last yellow, in general. I certainly wasn’t focused enough to determine if it was starting to light, or well lit. It looks like I need some more practice.
The car is not stock, I was actually running a race gas tune last night, with a TBE.
Mike I’d focus on your launch for a while and then come back to the reaction time. You can’t practice proper launching when you’re worried about nailing the tree.

No chance without slicks. I have yet to see a 1.5 60’ on street tires in a Subaru without a super crazy setup.
Low 1.6 60 foots are definitely possible though.
The car can definitely trap several miles an hour faster with better shifting, but that will come with time.
Just have fun out there.

They’re actually a lot easier to launch since they don’t make the torque the STi does. My old 2L WRX did 1.63-1.67 on crappy Kumhos many times, but the STi guys have a finer line between wheel hop and bogging.

Even with slicks, I don’t think a stock STi has enough power to cut a 1.4.
