Looks like a nicee piece. 27’s gonna be a long strech in reality( considering IF its not the original motor, tranny rear end ect… ) has the body been documented? I may know some body thats interested.
Pretty obvious it’s not the original motor or trans… There was no 700R4 back in '67, and I’m 95% sure the only BBC option in '67 was a 396 (not a 454).
And I will very much agree with you on the 27k being a large stretch for this car. It’s clean from the pictures, but it has a few non-attractive options/features (Engine bay is clean, but not detailed nicely; Front bench seat; Racing shifter; etc); and no clue what the undercarriage looks like or what condition it’s in.
Yeah the price may be high, not my car, posting it for my dad and thats what he considered decent, seen a lot like his for the same price so thats how the number was determined
OK, I’ll be that asshole. $27K can get you an SS driver of this vintage.
The 300 is a plain Jane model. The Deluxe edition had a few more trim items than the base 300, like rocker / drip rail moldings, interior with a dash strip and silver inset, door panels and seats had a different design than the 300.
Both the 300 and 300 Deluxe came with rubber mats rather than carpet, and both models were missing lots of chrome and trim items from the SS - but the biggest flag isn’t just stick-on, minor trim differences, it’s that they are post-hardtops, as opposed to the SS’s true, pillar-less, completely different roof.
I’m certain your father wants to get every penny he can out of his rebuild, and I can’t begrudge him that, but for fuck’s sake this is a $12K-$16K car on a good day. Buy this and you’ll never get your money back, unless you start parting it. It looks like a stout cruiser but his price is damn near double what this is worth.
TrueBlue…I think the first post made it very clear that the over priced car is his fathers and that he is just posting it to help him out. Sometimes people put a lot of time and money into less desirable cars and in that case you have to be prepared to either keep it forever or sell it at a huge loss. Someone might have a 50K caviler but it doesn’t mean they’ll ever be able to sell it. Most guys that drop 20K+ into a car will have a very hard time realizing they need to sell it for 15K or less. 30K can get you many nice cars.
