This is a really great car that is reliable enough to daily drive and in stunning condition considering the age. Everything on it works – AC, heat, radio, sunroof, cruise, etc. It starts every time and got 20mpg when I drove it from Detroit to Nashville. It also performs very well and has a nice amount of power, with plenty of headroom for a buyer to raise the boost and make a lot more power. Has a good alignment on it, the transmission shifts great, rear diff works, and the clutch is strong. It really needs nothing, but I’ve done my best to list out any small flaws or issues a buyer would be interested in. There aren’t going to be any disappointing surprises – this is just a great car which has been meticulously maintained and is ready to be a daily driver, weekend cruiser, or as a killer starting point for a build. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been tempted to keep it just because it’s in such great condition, but I need to let it go.

What it Has

  • Working AC with fully working Logicon!!! (also working heat, cruise, radio, intermittent wipers, etc)
  • RTek 2.1 ECU with Palm IIIc for tuning, Palm connector cleanly hidden in glovebox
  • S5 turbo and manifold running wastegate pressure. With a boost controller, you can significantly increase the boost and power levels if the buyer chooses. I think it drives great just the way it is.
  • Racing Beat downpipe and muffled midpipe (catless), stock catback to keep things quiet.
  • Racing Beat short shifter.
  • Mazdatrix plug wires.
  • S5 tail lights.
  • Newly replaced stock parts:
    Coolant temp sensor, oxygen sensor
    Intercooler hose
    Water pump
    Fuel filter and air filter
Fuel pressure regulator and pulsation damper
    HVAC control motor (new OEM)
Windshield (no nasty 25 year old sandblasted crap!)
  • Additional grounding straps for electrical reliability and elimination of 3800RPM stumble.
  • Emissions deletes done (using Mazdatrix parts):
    EGR
    Air injection
    Cold weather starting fluid
  • Double groove alternator pulley (needed after air pump delete to ensure engine fan is properly powered).
  • Hawk HPS pads and new rotors all around.
  • Nearly new Hankook RS-2 tires all around.
  • Professionally resoldered CPU and warning cluster/clock boards – EVERYTHING works!

What it Needs

  • Slight oil leak from oil pan – just a dribble, should just need a new gasket.
  • Likely would not pass emissions in Williamson County – would need a catalytic converter or to be registered as a historic vehicle or outside of Williamson.
  • Small dent in fender – can be fixed by paintless dent guy.
  • Paint isn’t great but it’s decent. Could use buffing to clean some things up and a few spots touched up.

Extras Included

  • Full printed, plastic sleeved, and bound Factory Service Manual.
  • Palm pilot with RTek software and desktop computer which I have the Palm and RTek software installed on.
  • Stock tail lights.
  • Logicon used for parts.
  • Spare exhaust hangers (large rubber donuts).
  • S4 turbo heatshields (can be modified to fit S5 turbo if desired).
  • Spare relay for the wiper controller (only needed one, but got two).
  • Thermal pellet bypass plug.
  • Nearly all removed emissions parts.
  • Original shifter.
  • Original HVAC motor.
  • Standard brake pads removed for the HPS pads.
  • Spare spark plugs.
  • Extra oil change parts – filters and oil.
