1998 BMW 323i Convertible

Accidentally Selected wanted to buy instead for FS. Admin - can you change it to FS?

To make it easy, this is listed for $2900 on CL - I will take $2500 - that’s it. I’m sure the low balls and comments will be coming:D Maybe if I still have it in a few weeks I will go lower, but for now $2500 is the lowest. This is my first BMW and I think it’s a neat car with a great drive train. I was surprised how snappy the small car is and how well it handles with all stock stuff still on it. I like my old GM cars and don’t have the time or energy to mess with this thing and my son lost interest. I have my 60-70s muscle cars to play with:headbang:

From the CL ad:
Nice convertible summer car that does need a bit of TLC. My son bought this car to fix up and lost the motivation to do so. It doesn’t need anything major, just a handful of nagging things. Car was sold new in Florida and then moved to Texas. It came to NY in 2004. I have the carfax. The body is just starting to show some surface rust in a few spots, but it’s in great shape for a 1998.

Mechanically the car is in nice shape - my son drives it everyday to school. When we bought it, the head gasket was blown. We installed a rebuilt head, gaskets, new water pump, new radiator, new fan pulley, and other components that are common issue on these engines. The rest of the components we had access to were inspected for wear. The VANOS is in top shape as are the sprockets, chains.

The clutch and 5 speed transmission work great. Engine runs very smooth, but there is a check engine light so it runs in closed loop, but still runs good. We had it checked and was told it was O2 sensor. Tires are good, but the one had a blow out and a regular steel wheel is on it. I have a set of winter tires to go with it. One wheel is also missing some of the lip, but hasn’t caused any issues.

Interior has wear expected on a car this age. The top has no major issues, but does leak a bit in a heavy rain at a couple of the seams. I believe the top was replaced once. It’s a fully automatic top and is glitchy at times not wanting to go down without some persuasion. The rear window is in tact, but cloudy.

It’s summer though - put the top down and cruise!!
