2 dead after drunk motorcyclist runs them over

Well, uh… It says that’s from the year 2000… So yeah…

He is saying that the guy is a repeat offender. I would lock him up for life with no parole.

We need to invade Canada so that we can send our criminals out to our version of Siberia and not spend so much on private prisons.

Point? I assume he was trying to say he is a repeat offender.

Gotcha, I hadn’t looked at the article so I didn’t make the connection, but that makes a lot more sense then.

A. not sure how creditable the source was since it was a guy posting on FB
B. repeat offender if so.

I’d shoot him in the head with no chance of survival. Screw paying for his dumb ass to lay around the rest of his life. On my way to the shop Sunday and noticed all the bikes out. Couldn’t help feeling the day would end uneventfully. Never expected this.

Amherst will throw the book at him and deff give him all that they can… That’s I’d he has enough money

Creditable rumor is 3 or 4 priors.

heres a pic:

Very sad, my wife went to HS with her.

I am seriously angry about this. It was so beautiful outside and people were simply enjoying life. It’s ridiculous how some irresponsible asshole can change everything. I had an individual arrested for DUI on Saturday night, I was so happy to see him in handcuffs.

Saw this  could have saved lives that day.

I talked to an Investigator at the Amherst PD and gave them the info. Sounded like it was the same guy.

Side note - The Amherst “Dispatcher” sounded annoyed that I called. I realize that they become numb with phonecalls but I called the number channel 4 posted. Sorry to bother you…

Thank you very much. I will let the family know you came forth and did so. I know they will appreciate that more than anything.

I don’t think there is much “value” in what I told Police. Essentially, I saw a late 40-50 year old white guy on a Red Motorcycle coming out of a bar parking lot. I gave the description of the guy on the bike and the investigator (ie not dickbag dispatcher) said “Hmm, that could be our guy. I’ll double check the report and if I need a statement I’ll get a hold of you.”

He did thank me for calling in was surprised how much detail I had; that area, that bike, the bar location, time of day, direction he was heading, clothes he was wearing, etc… It wasn’t until I saw the news report with the bike on the ground that I had the “Oh shit…” moment.

Any thing that might help is big help. Figure if no one has come forward and said a bar they saw him at/saw him leaving… they dont know what bar he was at to get supporting evidence. With you saying a bar name, hopefully that bar will have some sort of camera system to show video of this guy at the bar/ how heavily he drank, who drank with him, and weather the guy should have been talk to or if perfectly capable bystanders just watch him act like a fool then leave on his bike.

Rumor becomes fact:

AMHERST, NY - The man at the center of a double tragedy Sunday in Amherst had several prior alcohol-related incidents.

Two On Your Side obtained the arrest report from Volusia County, Florida. Smith was charged with Driving Under The Influence on March 4, 2010. The case, according to court records, was dismissed.

We have also confirmed at least two other prior arrests here in Western New York. In 2000, Smith pleaded guilty to felony DWI in North Tonawanda and in 1997 he was convicted of misdemeanor DWI stemming from an arrest on Grand Island.

Motorcyclist is my father-in-laws buddy, He told me he had 3 DWI’s that he knew of. I hope my father-in law takes this to heart every time he’s out on his bike after a few drinks.

guilty plea: http://www.wgrz.com/news/article/195827/37/Motorcyclist-Pleads-Guilty-in-Fatal-DWI-Accident

Actually manned up and probably getting a harsher sentencing than if he pled not guilty.

The DA’s office says 53-year-old David Smith pleaded guilty to first-degree vehicular manslaughter, second-degree vehicular assault and driving while intoxicated. These charges are higher than those he could have been convicted of, had he gone to trial.

I know this was a big relief for my friend who’s sister was one of the two killed. I’m happy to see it saved the familys a lot of grief and time. Hopefully it allows the families to move past this a little quicker.
