2000+ Dodge Intrepid

I have been given a silver Dodge Intrepid SE (not sure of year yet) after I get the money for transfer and taxes. Looks extremely clean, but it was owned by 80+ year old woman. Still inspected

I am assuming 2.7L V6 engine. 200HP range. Anyone have one and what to look for? I see they mention a sludge problem.

The 2.7L intrepid definitly have problems with sludge. I’d change the oil as soon as you can and inspect the oil coming out. You can pull the oilcap and look under the cap for oil residue. Chryslers fix was to tee the heater hose with the PVC system to warm up the PVC valve. Look for that on the driverside of the engine at the back of the head. Most develop a rod knock. I’ve drop the pan and cleaned the pickup tube but once the damage is done…

I can’t remember the last time I saw an older Intrepid on the road, maybe that means something???

An old dodge isn’t worth it, even it it’s free.

our 2000 intrepid, which we bought new… threw a rod @ 120,xxx miles. that 2.7 always had issues. the dealership refered to it as a disposable engine
