2000 neon timing belt questions.

I talked my girlfriend into keeping her car a few more years. Thing runs great, and its even better when its paid off.

So we’re going to spend some money on maintenance. Lucky for us we know a great master mechanic, but I just had a few questions.

The car has 86k, the book says to do the timing belt at 100k, but the car is 8 years old, we are going to do the timing belt, and serp belt at the same time.

Some of the kits include a water pump, is it a common practice to replace the water pump when doing the timing belt?

The timing belt set with a new water pump, and all the tensioners is about 100 bucks.

Other than that we’re doing a few other odds and ends to get it back into shape.

Replacing 4 struts, and the strut mounts are blown out.
Sway bar endlinks are blown out.
Recharge the AC system.
Change the transmission fluid.

Should be a good car once we’re done with it.

Timing belt = serp belt. Do the water pump at the same time along with the tensioner.

:word: might as well since your going to be tinkering around in there anyways

belt with WP with tensioner with alternator belt, might as well throw spark plugs in there
