2008 Camaro Concept

Just like your 94 :stuck_out_tongue:

Jeeve’s Its not that bad, atleast the materals are a MAJOR improvement!!

:headbang:

It’s all gonna depend on the motor. GM CAN do it right. The question is WILL they do it right.

Hmmm, I notice that the brakes are off of the CTS-V. Is the prototype also built off a full length or shortened epsilon chassis too? Seeing they have it in house I think the CTS chassis would be a perfect starting point for this car, if its not already.

i would LOVE it if they added the '69 style strakes to the whel wells …

and hide-away headlamps

and built some with 427’s

omfg yea that would be hot

do i see LS8??? hmmmm i wonder what the displacement is

no its an LS2

There is an LS2 in it right now, Bob Lutz posted on his web blog that they ‘Have an extra 100 proven hp available if we need it’ aka LS7. Basically it will get what the Vette gets, rated it down 5hp and put it in a slightly heavier 4 seater car, nothing new here, that part works very well.

Platform is an interesting subject, you cant just call it a Zeta. It has been sort of rumored to be on Zeta, Zeta-lite, Sigma, Sigma-lite, etc etc As Scott Settlemire said, ‘Zeta is just a name’

And yes, IRS rear. I guess there needed to be something in there to make import guys happy and me angry, so there it is.

I really hope they make this with the LS2…then the mod market for it will really take off. Everything is expensive now because most of the guys that own C6’s and GTO’s are middle-aged guys with money :frowning:

Nothing wrong with a properly done (ie not Mustang Cobra style) IRS… Corvette doesn’t have a problem with it, after all.

maybe we will get lucky and it will be stronger then a 10bolt

According to Engines, Transmissions, Components and Upgrades | Performance it will have the “Corvette Inspired LS2 6.0L 400hp engine, 6-speed, 4 wheel vented disc brakes with 14inch rotors, 4 wheel independent suspension and progrssive rate springs, 5 spoke cast aluminum wheels and 21 inch front and 22 inch rear wheels”.

from what I’ve been reading, its coming from the same place the Goat did

this is going to be a reskinned Holden Commodore

ehh… still tends to lead to wheel hop (which breaks things)… solid rear 4L

even if it is IRS rear from the factory, you know in 2 years there will be a posi retrofit available. or maybe a ford 9"

I’m interested to see how this pans out… but the one question that nobody wants to ask but should is - will there be a V6 version? I wouldn’t want one but there are people that would ante up for a $20k version.

  1. Weight
  2. Cost
  3. Wheel hop control
  4. Took $ away from front suspension

I like a solid rear end for drag racing and it can make a superb fast road car if properly designed and set up.

another nice chop, changed the grill and added the hockey stripes, I just dont agree with the SS badging

Lastest rumor from those that are usually right holds that we should see a Camaro in late 2007 as an '08  GM is milking that “we are still trying to decide” position as best they can, but in reality the decision is pretty much made
