LOL, Maybe because Mopars and Vipers are the only USA made car with parts that cost enough for me to give a shit about… short of the ZR1 and FGT… and we all know they aren’t really my deal. It is hardly brand loyalty, I love PLENTY of Imports- I just don’t like MOST of what Ford and GM offer. Hell, I don’t even like some of the Mopars, but I don’t discredit their place in the overall picture of brand vs brand. Perhaps if you stepped back, you would see the bigger picture, and why Mopar has it going on overall. I defend Mopar because for every ONE of me, there are 50 idiots who are blind GM and Ford sheep, and it has been like that since the 80’s. Many people do not give Mopar a chance, and assume they are still like they were 25 years ago.

Horsepower numbers are great but you can have all the power you want but when the car weighs 4000+lbs who gives a damn. That’s why all of these new muscle cars short of the new 5.0 blow donkey dick. They are advertised with all this power but weigh so fucking much.
The new camaro is 80hp more than the 4th gen ls1s were rated and are marginally faster and even slower than some of the 4th gens stock for stock. The challenger is a pig and I have yet to be impressed by it.
So yes you can compare horsepower totals etc etc, but I’m much more interested in performance totals not hp.
The viper is the only mopar i give a damn about except for the jeep srt8 (but even those have been known to absolutely trash the transmissions over 500hp I think it is).
I just don’t see where you’re getting that mopar has exceeded the other two us automakers in performance. The viper and maybe the Jeep SRT8 are the only two I see keeping up with and/or outperforming their market competitors. I could be forgetting about a couple cars but the when it comes to the muscle car portion (which is the main topic of this thread) mopar is not even remotely in the top
Charger/challenger SRT8 and V6 models are slower than camaro V6/V8 and the mustang V6/V8

You’re right, the current Challenger sucks, except in styling, but that’s why there are big improvements for 2011 (hence this thread) and I’m sure it will only get better.

Hopefully that bump in horsepower will help the new challenger make up the 4-6mph difference it is lacking simply in speed compared to the other two muscle cars, but until that happens, there is no proof it has met or exceeded the other two.
