I picked up a Shoei RF1000 a year ago that was a leftover 2009 model for $250 shipped through ebay. There are good deals to be had if you search well enough and aren’t too picky with graphic styles.
I’m about to order a plain black RF1100 for like $390 , I priced all my gear, all leather, padded everything, around $800.

says the guy that was rocking shorts the other day lol
Lol i thought it was going to be warmer out!!
i have riding jeans and leather pants foo
This is what I wear in the hotter weather.
Mesh jacket with leather reinforced elbows and shoulders
Mesh pants
Same gloves and boots year round.
Since we’re talking all gear now, if you don’t mind used stuff you can find good deals on craigslist. I used searchtempest to search craigslist nationwide and came up with all this gear for under $500 shipped. Only brand new item was the helmet. Boots and jacket came from California, but well worth the 2-3 hours searching IMO.
Fixed the title to expand the thread.
My helmet says “for novelty use only on it” I also wear a leather jacket from the 70s and cowboy boots. But I rarely go outside the city.

Just picked up an AGV K-3 as my Shoei RF-R is kinda beat up from off road adventures. Scrapes and paint chips on the Shoei, and the funny thing being it’s probably a nicer helmet than the AGV. New to riding, but I’m probably going to pick up the RF-1100 in the future.
Olympia cordura jacket w/ CE armor that has a detachable liner for weather below 50.
Icon denier overpant with CE armor
Icon gloves, which suck.
Boots with the furr.
Jetstream 2 piece rain suit to protect the work clothes on the wet ones.
Suits and Jackets
Dainese Safety Pro 1 piece leather suit, all black
Alpinestars Vector Leather Jacket
Joe Rocket - Textile 2 piece suit (This is pretty much retired)
Dainese Back protector
HELMETS
Shoei RF-1000 Joust
HJC CL-14
AGV
HJC CS-12
and an old rf-900
Boots-
Alpinestars SMX+Plus Boots (black)
Gloves
Alpinestars SP2 Full gauntlet
Thor Dirtbike gloves (Main glove for daily driving, but i wouldnt want to crash in them)
ICON Patrol (Winter gloves, hate these, wayyy to big, and when i was riding, my heated grips were plenty)
Alpinestars Shorty Gloves (never wear these either, they’re too big, hell i don’t even know where they are these days)

Newenough.com (all new stuff) has decent closeouts most of the time too.
What’s everyones impression on the riding jeans that have the reinforced knee and stuff? I am not looking for track/highspeed protection but just ones to have on while practicing some light cornering.
Better than normal jeans, but why mess around… light cornering can cause some pretty bad rash if you’re even thinking about going down… then dress for it.
I’ll wait for JBGTI to chime in, he saw what jeans do when I dragged them for .2 seconds.
So does anyone have any recommendations for riding pants?
I’m either riding or not. When I take the bike to work I bring my assault pack with sneakers and shorts in it. So I figure I might as well grab one decent set of riding pants. I do NOT want tight racing leathers or do not want chaps.
There are tons of options, dragging jeans, icon makes a pant, you could get an aerostitch suit…
Check those options out… (aeros stuff is super nice, and keeps you dry too ;))
When you become the next statistic I will make sure not to care and shit all over your crash thread dickbag.
Olympia makes a nice pair of “over pants” with the full zip, ce armor, cordura material… I wanted a pair to mate with my jacket, but I just went with the Icon pants. Only use them for work travel…
I need some real pants though… I accept the risk of riding in jeans, but the more and more I ride, I think about it daily.
+1 I want riding jeans
