2024 Olympics in BUFFALO?

We got 12 years…Start building.

That would just be a competitive drinking contest with multiple events, right?

Having the olympics would put our country and city into a recession and hurt any future growth here as it did with the past host cities. It costs BILLIONS to host the olympics and we have no where near what is needed to do so or the money. Detroit has stopped bidding on games and other countries have turned it down for the mass money hole it leaves in a city.

Also, Olympic cities are the eyes of the world… really buffalo?

Yeah we’d have to modify the entire city for a matter of what…12 days? There are no where near enough hotels, the airport probably couldn’t even handle the amount of traffic from the athletes, trainers, coaches, family members.

This is probably one of the dumbest ideas I’ve heard come out of this region, and that’s really saying something.

We don’t have the infrastructure, sports complexes or accommodations to support this. Even if we shared it with Toronto it would turn into a nightmare with border security and insufficient capacity at the bridges.

The only way you can host an Olympics and not go deep into the red is to be a city like LA, where you already have almost everything in place. The few things you need to build are things you needed to build anyway and will continue to be used after the Olympics leaves. Or be like Beijing, where labor costs are pennies on the dollar and “environmental impact study” is a term you don’t even have a translation for.

It was stated sometime earlier that Buffalo couldn’t even handle an NHL All Star game…

Meh, I don’t know about that. I think it’s possible. We’re just not the most desirable city for it.

Ya we can’t hold the people for a global event. It just isn’t in our city to have that many people and there is past Olympic stadiums that were never finished or turned into anything because money ran out.

Or Tom Brady

With his list of huge accomplishments and his obvious huge ambition to lift Buffalo to the next level, I hope Byron Brown is still mayor for this in 2024. LMFAO!

No I was actually going to have angry and combative people stay in my garage.

Not the racetrack, the baseball stadium.

i dont see it happening anytime soon, however buffalo does have an a/e company that has previously designed an olympic facility (richmond oval in vancouver) that is now used as a public recreation/exercise center for the city(was the plan all along in design) and is a “green” building.

i’m more interested in seeing what happens with all the redevelopment happening, the massive amounts of construction with the medical corridor and future expansion plans

The only Olympics happening in Buffalo would be the Beer Olympics down on Chippewa and it would result in someone getting stabbed and a girl getting raped in the bathroom. Then Carl Palodino would try to sue someone for some nonsense and we would make the cover off CNN.

the Special Olympics came here

and now they’re in office

Any buffalo team winning a championship is absurd as well.

To be fair, we have won lacrosse.

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…
