29 ford roadster project

Haven’t posted in a while here been busy with a lot of stuff. One of which is this 29 ford for a customer in Amsterdam. Yup, Amsterdam has other cars around other than civics. It was built as a joint project with a friend of mine in Ft Johnson, www.RodzbyLudwin.com. It was brought to us under the assumption that the motor needed to be bolted up, and some small odds and ends needed to be finished. In reality it needed everything. From the back forward just looking the car over for the first time, the rear suspension had link bars undone which bent the shackles all up off the leaf, battery was missing, gas tank was just sitting in place with no lines, brakes had nothing inside the drums, no brake lines, no rear floor just dynamat and black fur, no firewall, doors didnt open and close, no gas pedal, no clutch cable, no front brakes, 6 volt headlights, no fan on the radiator, basically not much of anything really was finished. So we made up a game plan with the customer and tore it all apart. In the end the car was stripped of the doors windows, it was braced 3" all the way around and new sheet metal hit everything from the firewall back minus the center section of the floor. It was then wrapped in copper all hand riveted, a new dash board was built, hand built steering column, new reversed corvair box and drag rod to complete the steering. Added a battery box in the trunk and built some mounts to hold the gas tank in place. We mounted the seats, removed the motor cycle shocks up front and replaced them with some friction shocks, bolted the motor together, added an electric fan, plumbed the car, new wiring harness, and finished the windshield frame that needed to be chopped to fit the chopped opening. All in all it was completed in under a month, was already in a country music photoshoot/video going overseas for the troops, and pissed off some of the amterdam population with its open headers and rolling burnouts thrugh the lesser side of town last weekend. Its a blast to drive and gets some attention, jush what the owner wanted.

Slip rolled a trans tunnel to replace the off center diamond plate one. Little bit cleaner. Also cut out the dash that was started before us.

nice… ive seen this for sale/ trade. correct me if im wrong, isnt it just a chopped down coupe? im building a 26 and 28 currently, roadsters that is

Thats it, just a coupe body that was cut at the top body line before roof/windows. We made a 1" square tubing skeleton around the whole body to brace up the sides of the car and tie side to side together before we skinned the inside with sheet metal. I have no pictures of that however. Just from teardown and when the interior sheet metal was tacked in. Im more into these when they are cut above that body line to give it a detail around the top tail, this one was cut lower before we got our hands on it. Are the ones you have steel body cars?

Was this at the Ballston Spa car show on Sunday? (I believe I spotted it there as I was driving by)

No sunday it was in a small photo shoot for a local country music singer and also with a us army tribute motorcycle, both of which are using the photos for a tribute coming up for the troops overseas. I took it for its first shakedown and drove it around galway lake and tormented amsterdam for a couple hours sunday.

Some more of the floor work.

Copper was the next step. We wrapped the whole top body line with 1/4 round bar to have a finished edge for the copper to butt to and shaved the doors with some spades which is rodzbyludwins logo. Cut some sheet metal for a door panel. Also installed bear claw latches and made a straight linkage setup with a socket for a door handle. Some more spades on the doors in copper and a simple bead rolled accent on the body of the doors. Dash wrapped in copper, new gauges, some harley stuff, new windshield, hand tooled leather floor mats, covered the console in some copper, etc

Got it running and driving and sent it on to the customer. For the look the owner likes it came out great. It runs and drives smooth, its crazy loud, the motors got some ass behind it, its covered in copper and a thousand rivets. Basically its rusty, loud, and just what the owner wanted and it shows because he ha driven it every day since its been done.

been following this on your facebook, looks like a ton of work but it looks awesome! good job man

so cool, new background on the laptop.

That thing is awesome; love it. Very nice job, sir. Love the copper.

look at those fucking headers !!! they look bigblock inner fender headers that were just choped

this has to be fucking LOUD. upside down zoomies FTMFW

/\ its loud standing next to them, but sitting inside somehow its not bad, you can actually talk to back and forth without screaming, maybe a little louder than normal talking though. Outside cruising around it sounds like a loud Harley. If it were a big cube high comp motor it would sound nutty, but its not as retarded loud as you would think.

this thing is sweet.

i love all the little touches on this too.

good job

Took the roadster for a final drive on Saturday to put it in storage for the owner. Took a couple photos as well.
