there was one for sale in pennhills…some guy that works @ that small used car dealership on frankstown @ that intersection with the getgo, wallgreens & CVS…
he has 2 of them…one he roadraces…the other was a working partscar that should be for sale…but when gearhead & i stopped there it wasn’t for sale yet cause he was taking the tranny out…i think the one for sale has/had everything but a tranny.
nice rare car with potential, but seems like a lot of work & $…due to hard to get/rare & pricy OEM & aftermarket parts
& from what the guy said i think they have weak trannys.
Here’s the rough details on the one I’m thinking about. It’s a co-worker’s car…
the bad:
it will need a clutch soon, and the front driver side axle has started to click on occasion. there is a small oil leak somewhere, but it doesn’t drip much. i just see some evidence of it in the engine compartment. it’s possible it has already been fixed. the body is decent, 2 small dents in front wheel arches. paint is faded, but no rust.
the good:
motor feels strong. i added a profec-B spec II and a mandrel bent 2.5 in cat-back exhaust a couple months ago. interior is in great shape.
i rebuilt the distributor (the mechanical advance springs break in these cars). i already bought a complete gasket kit with the intent of getting a new clutch, the gaskets are included in the sale. i also put a nice dvd-mp3 player in it. i’ve got a bunch of extras (airbox, intake, instrument cluster, etc) that i’ll throw in as well.
i paid $3400 for it about a year ago before adding the boost controller, exhaust, and stereo. i was hoping to get $3400 for it
It’d stay just like that + new clutch. No other mods would be added. It’d be a DD and occasional RallyX car, maybe even Autox if it’s raining hard.

talk to gearhead…he did some research i think & we kinda got turned off cause of the problems i listed above
if its pretty much done mod wise & you think its reliable…then it might be a good deal especailly if you could get it down to around 3K or less.
whats the milage
High 120k miles. I could probably get him under $3k. I’m going to take a look at the car later today.

bleh… not a fan.
I’d own… well, hehe… I DO own a toyota alltrac over a 323GTX. Sure the GTX is a little smaller car, but if you want a rare 4wd turbo car, how can i not tell you no to the 323 and yes to an alltrac.
I wish I could remember all the details about them that I looked up. I know the tranny is rare, so if you blow it up or something your fubar’d. The clutch though isn’t that hard to change. Basicly like a DSM. I wanna say they had some electrical problems too, some with the digi dash and stuff.
If your serious about it, i’d go over it with a fine tooth comb and see if its something you really wanna get into.
