5 weeks to go till I tie the knot… crazy how much work and $$ goes into even a small (~50-60 people) casual wedding…
I know I’m not spending that much; and getting deals wherever I can, but it’s still not cheap. I can now see how people spend what they spend on weddings… it’s a damn racket and easy to spend well into the 5 figures (We’re no where close).
Oh, and we’ve been called white trash (by her now, post-comment ex-Best Friend) for having a winter wedding at Holiday Valley (due to us getting married in Snowboarding gear and not a dress/tux)!! If the weather is good, we’re going to be the 1st couple getting married at the new pavilion outside Yodeler in front of the fireplace.
Crazy to think that it’s only 5 weeks away… Good thing is there’s only a few loose ends to clean up; then the planning is DONE and then it’s just the event.
Gotta get my ring; get with the Photographer Cough; and wait for all the invitations to come back… that’s it!!
Crazy the drama from a wedding though… that’s for sure… I’m there’s more than a few of you married guys on here with pre-wedding drama…
congrats man, sounds like it’ll be a different wedding. i hate having to go to the same boring weddings. make your guests freeze their asses off, lol. keep shit exciting.
Thanks for the reminder…and Holiday Valley is hardly White Trash.
My brother is getting hitched the day after christmas. The wedding is at a church but the reception will be at the Niagara Falls Casino/Hotel. I think it will be a blast but I am sure he is feeling the same as you.
Anyone/Everyone is welcome to come and party… But not everyone is getting open bar (only invited guests ;))
We’re getting married ~4:30, and we’re staying there so we’ll be there most of the night. Our “official” reception ends at 7, but I’m sure people will be hanging out longer.
I know what you mean man… Mine is still 9 months away but time has been flying. we’ve already been engaged for 5 months!
The shit is expensive too… I have a large italian family so even with trying to keep the numbers down we’re still looking at 150 people. Were almost done with the planning already though and hoping it’ll stay under 5 figures but i doubt thats gonna happen. Sigh.
That sounds like a unique and fun wedding… everyone can go boarding during the recption… that would be cool.
If things turn sour with the photographer. I have a friend who can do it for a very reasonable price. She’s been in the wedding industry for a few years now and has got a great nack for it.
Your pants, I think, are showing up today! I’ll check when I get to work.
Who cares what anyone thinks. I don’t see how getting married and incorporating something you enjoy has anything to do with WT. I think getting married on the slopes is a rad idea. Who gets to say that in a lifetime?
At least it isn’t the usual cliche reception hall or church… People will remember you two for being different, and not by the book.
The snowboarding gear thing is so cool! Women are sexy in snowpants. And at the very least, think of the $3,000+ you’re saving by not getting a wedding dress.
Doubt I’ll have any issues with the photographer; he comes HIGHLY recommended…
150 people for under 10K; that’s damn hard… the “conventional” wedding we were originally thinking of doing was ~75 people and we were hard pressed to keep it around that figure; hell food alone at most places is $40+/person, plus $20/person for open-bar…
