Just marketing and PR. It’s like “hey we can build this ridiculous car with no intentions of selling it, imagine what we could do with the budget of a car we plan to sell.” Two years later, the new Malibu comes out.

Mazda uses it’s current concept cars to base the rest of their cars off of. They take design elements from it for the production stuff.
