this is my dads car i know i have included some pics of his car in my build thread but i decided i should make a thread of his own. he had one of these before he was married and he put a small block chev into it. he bought this car about 5 years ago from the states it already had a fj20 swapped into it but they did not do a good job on wiring or the after market rack and pinion swap so it didn’t pass the O.O.P.
so after that he decided that he would build th car of his dreams knowing it would take a while he was willing to spend the extra cash to make it perfect. so we tore the car down to just the the body and frame. he doesn’t want to do a lot to the engine since the parts availability is almost nonexistent. he has just bought a gasket kit and he is going to get a new turbo.
he has just got the frame back from having a new mustang 2 style front clip put in, a new x member, and a shortened 9inch rear end with adjustable 3 link setup with air bag suspension.
thats a measurement on the rear from where the front edge of the spare tire is currently sitting. it still has a long way to go but it will be well worth it in the end.
I’d like to know more about the steering rack. I am rebuilding my front suspension (69 2000) and am considering going with a rack instead but not too sure where to start.
It has a whole new front clip welded in its a mustang 2 style with a narrowed rack. The oil pan was also custom made so it would be a rear sump so that there would be room for the rack without severe angle on the tie rods. I don’t think it will be out this year like i said my dad wants to take his time and make it perfect.
yeah seriously i am amazed at this car… i woulda been happy having it stock with some baller wheels and an engine…but this should be badass…the question is what kinda wheels are you gonna throw on a older vehicle with a wide body to suit it…and what color is he going? staying true to the black or some flash too it? cuz i really like the black with minor rainbow flake it looks the hotness
