COLOR CHOICES for Valve Cover…

Blue
White
Black
Orange

Personally, my favorite color is orange, but I’m not sure that would look right. So I was thinking like a FORD blue.

im thinking no paint… just preference… if you must BLACK is always the way to go. also now that you have the valve cover off i hope you have a new gasket and pref. a 1/4 in torque wrence

yeah this one was given to me, I wanted to get a new gasket for it just in case, and I do like the no paint, nice chrome look to it. Also I want to clean the whole engine bay, it could use a nice scrubbing.

dont paint it!

shave off the ultra ribbed look and then add some lubrication and rub it out, and should allow you finish nicely.

aka shave/polish your valve cover.

That actually sounds like a good idea. I’ve never seen one shaved down sooth. I’m doin the whole red and black theme so a red valve cover is how I’m going. You really don’t have much color to work with. Whatever color you paint it, its gona look weird.

Well everyone, as you have seen before, I am kinda in need of a new transmission. So I will be using that as a partial excuse to get a 1.8 to drop in my car. I have started shopping and would like to do the swap. Pretty much the same thing kellersvt has done with his 1.9 auto to a 1.8 standard. Depending on how everything works out, I might have a 91 gt donor car that is also white.

i have seen shaved bumpers to hide them ugly lines it looked really good

you two need to get on the escort forum and start looking around

For…shaved…bumpers???

Everyone needs to stop talking about shaving stuff… real men grow beards

Anyone have a clue as to what would make coolant leak into the car under my feet and soak my carpet?

heater core… the dash needs to come out… i can usually do them in a few hrs…

Had heater core replaced in aug of 08. not a fun expense and it takes a while. I know its not dying though, because I know how that is. When it was bad, the car overheats and steam comes out the vents and it leaked through both sides of the floor. This time was only right under the drivers feet. loose line maybe?

Thats what it sounds like.Thats the only thing with coolant on the inside.

yea, the heater cores the only coolant source inside… if it was done while you owned it at a shop ,go back to who did it. otherwise time to buy another…

I had my dads friend do it, but hes ford certified, so he knows what hes doing. I’ll give him a call.

yea it happens, i had 2 or 3 bad new water pumps from carquest… they wouldnt last more then 6 months at a time…atleast i got them to pay the labor claims… i ended up calling mazda tho…

I wondering who wants to convert his Escort to a 5 spd, has a doner car all lined up.

can you do it at your house? i can stop after work your 2 seconds down the street… ill say the hardest parts the pedals…

okay, i have been told that the doner car is not allowed at my house mostly because I have no room for it. Soooo, idk what to do, but I have figured that I want to wait about a month or so. Get everything together and I want to get new seals and clutch if I do this. I’m the type that if I do something, i will wait and make sure it is right the first time.

Here are pics…

Car, which is strictly for parts, probably will never be on the road again…

Did I mention I would be buying this whole car for $150?

And it does run fine too, tires are flat, but I got in it an reved it up and started to move it a bit in each gear. I want a 5 spd so bad and if I can do it this cheap, its worth it. And for everyone else thinking why??, This Escort… its still pretty damn clean, you will most likely not find a nicer shell around New York, and my auto tranny is slowly going, thats my biggest motivation for the swap.
