92 Roadmaster Wagon

What motor is in this car??? I know its a 5.7, but I dont know anything about it, i know there are different versions of the 5.7. what is compatible with it?? My g/f dad has a friend with one and he is customizing the car, he got it for free and wanted to do something different, but the engine needs some work…does anyone know anything about this motor?

I thought they came with the LT1, as found in the Impala SS.

Pewter should be able to answer this one.

Probably an LT1 with non-weephole opti-spark. Nice platform to start with, sleeperworthy with wagon :ninja:

I think lt1’s in 92 only came in vettes then in 93 f-body’s and other gm rides.

Small block 'til 94 they say…Guess it was not LT1.

some road masters had lt1’s, some had TBI 350 and some had olds 307’s :ugh:

I think Pinhead240 recently bought a Roadmaster with an LT-1.
He might know something about them - usually researches cars a lot before buying.

Actually, most of them, depending on the year, had the 4.3 V8 (265).

1992 would either be a TPI350 or a 4.3V8 would be my guess.

TPI? no way… they woulda had the same engine as like the LTZ caprice… the TBI 350 i’ve seen the sedan roadmasters with the 307

My fault, I meant TBI.

Also, I’m telling you, there are a ton of these things (Caprices, Roadmasters, etc…) that had the 4.3 V8

it doesn’t have the 4.3, its definitely a 5.7, but I know some did come with the L99 (i think is what it was called???) Didn’t they call it the baby LT1 or something?

i’m not disputing that. most base model caprices had that. i know just that caddy and buick and the olds wagon used the 307 up until 1990. thats all im saying

whats the eight # of the vin #?

bet it’s a TBI

edit - L05

LT1 was not available in the Bbody cars until 1994. It’s prolly a TBI 350. Nothing special, but could be made to run. Of course it is best to thrash the TBI & go with a carb or Multiport EFI (TPI)

I’d say dump it for a Caprice wagon, LSx swap and full Impala SS clone action.
