BLUE BOOK® PRIVATE PARTY VALUE

http://file.kelleybluebookimages.com/kbb/images/wsr/nchub/hub_whatsthis.png
Close Private Party Value

Kelley Blue Book Private Party Value is the amount a buyer can expect to pay when buying a used car from a private party. The Private Party Value assumes the vehicle is sold “As Is” and carries no warranty (other than any remaining factory warranty). The final sale price may vary depending on the vehicle’s actual condition and local market conditions. This value may also be used to derive Fair Market Value for insurance and vehicle donation purposes.

Close Private Party Value

This value assumes the vehicle has received the cosmetic and/or mechanical reconditioning needed to qualify it as “Excellent”. This is not a transaction value; it is representative of a dealer’s asking price and the starting point for negotiation.

Close Poor

  • Severe mechanical and/or cosmetic defects and is in poor running condition.
  • May have problems that cannot be readily fixed such as a damaged frame or a rusted-through body.
  • Branded title (salvage, flood, etc.) or unsubstantiated mileage.
Kelley Blue Book does not attempt to report a value on a “poor” vehicle because the value of these vehicles varies greatly. A vehicle in poor condition may require an independent appraisal to determine its value.

Close Vehicle Condition Ratings

Excellent

“Excellent” condition means that the vehicle looks new, is in excellent mechanical condition and needs no reconditioning. This vehicle has never had any paint or body work and is free of rust. The vehicle has a clean title history and will pass a smog and safety inspection. The engine compartment is clean, with no fluid leaks and is free of any wear or visible defects. The vehicle also has complete and verifiable service records. Less than 5% of all used vehicles fall into this category.

Good
(Selected)

“Good” condition means that the vehicle is free of any major defects. This vehicle has a clean title history, the paint, body and interior have only minor (if any) blemishes, and there are no major mechanical problems. There should be little or no rust on this vehicle. The tires match and have substantial tread wear left. A “good” vehicle will need some reconditioning to be sold at retail. Most consumer owned vehicles fall into this category.

Fair

Some mechanical or cosmetic defects and needs servicing but is still in reasonable running condition. Clean title history, the paint, body and/or interior need work performed by a professional. Tires may need to be replaced. There may be some repairable rust damage.

Poor

“Poor” condition means that the vehicle has severe mechanical and/or cosmetic defects and is in poor running condition. The vehicle may have problems that cannot be readily fixed such as a damaged frame or a rusted-through body. A vehicle with a branded title (salvage, flood, etc.) or unsubstantiated mileage is considered “poor.” A vehicle in poor condition may require an independent appraisal to determine its value. Kelley Blue Book does not attempt to report a value on a “poor” vehicle because the value of cars in this category varies greatly.

Yeah, that price is steep. I remember selling those cars for $2500 6+ years ago when I worked for my friend.

go ahead and try to buy that car right now anywheres for under 2k … there isnt shit on the cheap anymore . the days of gettin a 100 dollar beater with no rot is next to imposible

Thank you for your post car price masters! please don’t post where your post is not wanted, im fully aware of what its worth and what they go for in this area, price is OBO. it has 88k original miles! with no rust and no problems. You should know kbb is simply an average of what a vehicle is going for at auctions

This is so true, especially ones that have been maintained.

oh i know man , its horrible .

Usually KBB is high from what Ive seen.

ya know what , not a one of them will give ya a check for what its worth anyway so who cares what they say . its worth what someone will pay for it

idk where bought not built got his values from but i just did kbb and nada, nada was my exact price irronically, and kbb was below that

Thats retail. Youre not a dealership.
BNB did private party value

exactly

My appologize for pointing out the obvious. Anyone can tell its a $500 car. I wasnt gonna say that cuz im not a dick and didnt wannna ruin ur forsale thread. I understand that it might be well maintained and what not but thats not a realistic price for that car.

Go on Craigslist you can find that car to a tee or something comparable for $500. Might not be albany craigslist but regardless u will find it.

The price variance is the miles I think i put 100k and your craigslist posting has it for $2850 so for that ur above your kbb price.

I wish you the best of Luck Selling the Car I truly wasnt trying to be a dick take it the way you want. Mods if you wanna clean my post out this thread ur welcome too… Good Luck OP

even murrdog would offer more than 500. you can’t buy a running car for 500, you can’t even buy a rolling shell for 500. dc2nick is trying to sell a 97 civic WITHOUT A WORKING MOTOR, for 1000$ its where your selling your car, cost of living is different in each area, thats why you have to type in your zip code when you find your kelly blue book values, from reading threw your beretta for sale thread i think you of all people should know what its like to be hasseled threw a for sale thread, this site is useless to sell a car unless its a civic, ahah and on that note sale pending

Car is worth 1000 at most, sorry

:lol:lol:lol

Im going to put this in my sig

its so true ive prolly put up 3 or 4 cars on here that are non civics, put my civic up, get my asking price, didn’t even try and negotiate down

No one even offered on my civic, for the single day I was willing to sell it. lol

1000 if your lucky pontiacs suck :stuck_out_tongue:

yea the only gm i had that ive liked was my s10, then again ive only had 3
