A little project I decided to do at school...

Well since most people don’t know, I’m in for Technology Education at Buffalo State (Tech Ed = I will be a high school/middle school Tech teacher).

Last year we acquired a lot of new equipment from Engineers of the Future, a program that allotted the school 2 million dollars. One of the pieces of equipment we bought was a 600dpi 75w Laser Engraver/Etcher.

Let me say this: This thing kicks ass lol

Catch: No one knew how to actually use it.

So after reading up on it, reading the manual and through some trial and error, I decided to make a cool DIY automobile related project.

First:

The original picture…

I then uploaded the picture onto the Laser Etcher’s Program, cropped it up, set the Vector, Raster and DPI settings into the computer…

Then…just clicked print.

After 12 minutes of “printing”…

And finally after a few coats of clear…

whoa cool.

Me next?

I plan on doing a larger version of my bike on Thursday, I’ll post it up once it’s finished.

I have to play with the Vector setting so I can get a more detailed result. I want to bevel the edges also for a more finished look. I have soo much time on my hands at school I get bored easy.

im sure i could get a group buy going on my other car forum. wanna make some money?

Thats pretty sick, I would have used a different pic though.

It was the only one I could pull off of facebook at the time. Thursday I’ll be trying out new techniques to get the picture more clear and whatnot

Id assume it would be better to do it from they original file size, if you need original res of anything LMK.

i thought this was going to be the canoe… weak.

looks good though

Nice start

my buddy goes to the buff for tech ed, i may have to see if he can do one of these for me. looks sweet.
