Carfax cutoff is 1981 - is there a VIN check for cars older than that? Need to run this VIN:

I’ll answer my own thread as I found the answer:
If you are looking at a car that is pre-'81, the DMV will run the VIN for you to verify:
A.) that there are no liens on the car
B.) that the car has no reported accidents
c.) the car is not salvage, flood, or in another reconstructed state
d.) that the title is free and clear.
It’s the closest you will get to having a Carfax on a car that age, hence, “pre-Carfax.”
Maybe this can go in one of those techie sections of the site as it actually has usable car info. :tup:
