This is a waste. As is airlines pool the maintenance and support assets, in a way to reduce overhead. Putting into place a whole group of employees for the ultra low air traffic is just silly, and WILL not happen.
There is a billion other ways to spend the money, besides on a joke of a terminal like this. But its just money, its not like those that spend it work really hard to pay for all this stuff. I know its “free” money from the casino, but still, if spent properly, it would reduce the overall tax burden. But no, we spend it like a drunken idiot on ebay.
hmmm what about a snow storm that closes BUF and leaves this open? Closer to redirect too I suppose…that is if the storm is centralized enough to effect buffalo and not Niagara…plus buffalo rarely actually closes for any length of time.
Sounds great, its already an instrument alternative, but never used. Why you might ask? Because once the aircraft lands there, no one is there to service, move, empty that aircraft. Its just not going to happen.
im honestly surprised that after all these years they really dont shut down the NF airport, or does it honestly do that many flights to financially keep an airport open? but seriously isnt it like a 30 minute ride to the buffalo one, thus bringing the buffalo one more business and possibly improving it.

The plan for this was to bring in larger international flights, mainly from China. Seeing as this is the only runway in the area that can land a 747 safely. There are talks of many big things happening in Niagara Falls. It’s just a matter of time before it comes to fruition. There is more behind the scenes than a lot of people realize. The only reason I know of this kind of stuff is I just talk to a lot of people.
The reason the funding was given a go and like stated here there was a ton of money that was brought in from other avenues is because the people in charge are trying to improve the infrastructure to improve the tourism here.
This is in the works still and the money keeps flowing in from 100% private investment. No government funds.
If you look at the land use certificate and see where they plan to build you can understand the importance as to why they would improve the airport. From what I understand construction is slated to start in the next year.
I know the news article is a few months old but private party talks are discussing putting a stadium where the Summit Park mall is and the bankruptcy filling was performed in NC as to speed up the process. Everything is cleared out from the Summit mall as of now. There was a large auction not to long ago.
yeah they’ve done work at buffalo for larger aircraft. I remember when the president had to come in the smaller air force 1. Now when he comes to town the 747 can land.
