pretty cool car
hottttt
wicked looking car, gf’s dad was going buy one of these back in the day but went for another datsun instead. 510 i believe
No info on this car in particular, but the first gen 280s are amongst the best of the Z cars. All the issues from the 240 and 260 were sorted out but it didn’t get the boxy styling of the later 2nd gen 280ZX. This one has those bulky bumpers removed which is even better.
Good Luck
Bumpers missing which may be an issue for getting safetied. Verify this before any bid.
Confirm car is in GOOD running tune before bidding and ask seller if you can view before hand since it is in Toronto.
My impressions;
Too much time spent exclusively on the outside appearance which in itself has reported flaws and rust.
Rice exhaust system - again a potential problem in getting safetied.
Interior appears to be in rough shape.
Engine bay appears to be in even rougher shape.
Safe to say that if this same approach was continued the susupension may be in a very rough shape since nothing was even mentioned about that.
If it were me, I’d walk away even though it may have that initial WOW factor based on the pics. Perhaps that’s why the owner is selling on ebay since the buyer doesn’t have a chance to get an up close inspection. I wouldn’t bid if still interested in it til the last 30 minutes of the auction and see the bidding history then and decide how bad you want it. I would pay any more than $4,000 for it since it’s going to need double that to get it to reaosnable condition appearance-wise and mechanically-wise.
If your that interested in this era Z try contacting the owner of the Cobourg Nissan. He just picked up a pristaine 240Z from North Carolina for a reasonable price that’s already in car show condition.
Yhis car’s basics - Engine, power train, suspension etc has been neglected and overlooked with all of the money spent on bling. Not the kind of car I would chase. But to each his own.
I’d pose this same opinion post in the www.3oozxClub.com Forums and get some feedback from other same year/Gen Z owners first.
man that car is all done wrong, that car can look so awesome
that car looks sweet (on the outside) would make a good RB project
