Anyone going to Indy MotoGP this year?

Since I just picked up a 12’ Honda Civic Coupe, I think I might pack my bags and head out to Indy this year for the MotoGP races (Aug 17-19)

Anyone else plan on going? I seemed to have found a cheap hotel for $50/night … covered reserved seats @ $112 for the 3 day weekend through MotoGP’s site … and since it is Stoners last year, I feel like I wanna see it all happening. (And Rossi ain’t getting any younger)

Some members did that trip in the past, I am sure they can share some pointers.

Went there the first two years they had the MotoGP race, as far as seating General Admission tickets get you into a LOT of areas for the race and they are good for the whole weekend as well as getting into the pits for pit day. Spend the money on a better hotel closer to the track, that seems REAL cheap for a hotel room. You don’t want to make a long drive to get to the track on raceday as they shut down a bunch of roads and make you take certain routes to the track itself. You will also need money for parking (inside or outside of the track), I recommend just getting a weekend pass for parking. Also pack rain gear just in case, its not NASCAR they will still race in rain LOL, the first year they raced through the tail end of hurricane that came up the coast and it was insane

I wish I could go and see Stoner at least once before he retires, but I’m broke lol

I purchased a set of tickets for me and my dad.

Now looking for a hotel

How much are the tickets, if don’t mind me asking. Thanks.

We made the drive last year while towing the bikes. Not sure if we will be taking the bikes again this year or just driving out, but we are planning on going… depending on if my wife has enough time built back up before then.

How long of a drive/ride is that? just wondering…

IIRC it was right around 12-13 hours or so. However, if you try coming back the night Irene hits and you end up taking back-roads from Syracuse to Albany, then it takes closer to 16 hours…

A ticket in the J Stand costs $110 but you get to see the last ~6 turns. I paid $257 for 2 tickets for 3 days and a 3 day parking pass.

$110 for 3 days? That’s pretty good.

We always just get the general admission. There are actually some really good spots to see quite a bit of the race. I ended up getting some pretty awesome shots last year. (http://shift518.com/showthread.php?t=26986&highlight=motogp+indy)

Idk where you bought your tickets, but general admission for 3 days was $90 … Then $40 for 3 day parking instead of $30 for those with reserved seats. So, I paid $10 more dollars for reserved seats … it just seemed like a better deal to me to know I’m ensured a good seat. (Granted, I don’t think Indy gets filled so as you said, its probably easy to get good seats anyways with GA)

Which day is Pit Day that usmc mentioned? Does everyone have access? And is it possible to get autographs and whatnot at that time?

Pit day is Friday, used to be Thurs, you can sometimes catch a rider for an autograph but not always!

For all of you that has been there, I am appalled that none of you took any titty zoom and up skirt picts of hot pit babes…:shifty:rofl
