I was just there recently. The downtown is pretty fun. I am a few hours away in Raleigh.

It has been a couple of years since I was last down there, but I believe it was Tryon St/Rd/Ave (?) which is downtown. Has some really cool bars. Make sure you go to Cans for their brunch…soooo good and pretty cheap (think less than $10).
