Anyone remember what a "fast" PC was in '98

Yeah
Only ultra nerds need to bother to watch this.

the video quality lacks but listen to the specs…
holy crap.

Ultimate gaming machine = p2

 whoohoo PII 300 and only $4500:lol:

yea, i remember when our slot 2 motherboard finaly shit the bed and i went and bought a new board, processor & Ram …

my parents were pissed that i “broke” our $4000 computer … and i showed them what that slot 2 processor goes for on ebay … like $5.73 or some shit …

that reminds me … its been a while since dad has told me “i can smell the computer overheating” because its always on, and … you know … computers get that hot …

wow…lol

lol… I remember when gay slow computers were 2k + thats nutts

LOL yea i remember when we got are 1st comp… hahah we paid a ton but that was the fastest on the market at the time bahahah

My first computer was in 1996. Pentium 1 100mhz, 850mb HD, 8mb RAM, 15" CRT, Windows 95. Price = $1,800 My dad upgraded the RAM to 16mb with a second 8mb stick for $200.

When we first bought it, my dads friend said, theres no way you will fill an 850mb hard drive.

Who remembers real OG Prodigy (in DOS)… circa ~1990?

i dont wanna hear this I had a Commadore 64

I remember thinking the same thing about the 540mb drive I got back in 1993.

I guess most computer people have stopped saying things like “you’ll never need that much [space] [speed] [memory] [resolution].” Because there’s always a need for more. Anyone who edits video will realize that 1,000 gb (1 terrabyte) isn’t all that much storage. When each project fills a 200 gb drive, it only takes 5 projects to fill up a terrabyte. :frowning: Not to mention how more speed helps reduce rendering times.

Some interesting things have been coming up about dual-core vs. dual processor. Sometimes the dual-core CPUs are coming up with shorter video rendering times for Sony Vegas.

now imagine 5 years from now

:roflol:

3/3 supernerds at work approve

when Google becomes self-aware? err… I mean sky net.
