wow, how technology evolves

i remember my first computer that was the fastest at the time like 15 years ago. had like 32meg of ram and a 1 gb hard drive and it was huge!!

Pretty spiffy, is it bad that I remember the crossover point where $1 = 1MB was a HUGE deal.

lol, tell me about it. U were a lucky guy… I had to deal with my 80286 for quite a while before I finally got something “decent”

I miss the old days of computers… DOS rocked. I loved making funny little batch files/scripts and adding them to our schools autoexec.bat just to fuck with them (the teachers were barely able to turn one on, let alone use one)

edit: speaking of small storage… anyone remember the movie Johnny Mnemonic? He got like 3/4 of his brain removed so he could get 1GB of storage in there or something like that?

I had a 1gb HD laying around that still worked… Too bad i broke it :frowning:

DOS memory management is like points on older cars. Everyone forgets how much of a pain in the ass it is.

That said it was quite fun screwing with people.

lol no shit…

EMS/XMS … ughhhhh

that shit was a real pita trying to configure it correctly. I remember throwing the keyboard across the room after trying to run, doom…, I think… and even though I had the memory, it would give some kind of error saying that there wasn’t enough

certainly don’t miss that lol

DOS and QBASIC FTW!

Gorilla Wars was the shit in DOS

that was a qbasic game wasn’t it?

lol still have the QBasic by example book laying around somewhere (got it for xmas around the age of 13 or so). God I was a nerd

Haha yea. Also had some type of olympics game too I remember.
