APC batteries

how long are they supposed to last.
at work we lost 2 APC’s in the past month.

one of wich had the batteries deform and leak.
they were batterystore batteries…

does anyone else have problems like this?

i have like 2 car batteries in my apc. it weighs like 100 pounds. no problems yet.

are they still under warranty?

I think that they’re just real prone to going out. We’re constantly replacing them here at work it seems (sometimes one will last a year or two, other times they’ll last a few months before shitting the bed). We’ve used all kinds of different brands too so I’m not sure that that has anything to do with it.

like Jon said, warranty?

nope.
they are probably 6 or 7 years old.
1500’s

powering a PC, pressure controller and some meters.

ANYTHING “APC” i won’t buy… The name has been tarnished.

any reccomendations?
i cant say that i have heard good or bad about APC…

it’s what we have always used.

depends on what you need, really

just dont get the weapon-R UPS :stuck_out_tongue:

i can find another APC, and potentially get the trade up discount too.

but if APC suck’s, i;d rather avoid the future headaches/production problems.

lol I think he was refering to the cheepo pep-boys APC products (light up exhausts/“racing” seats/windshild wiper covers/ect)… not the APC power supplies :stuck_out_tongue:

sweet…
i could rice up our test consoles with some back lit neon.
0psi its green, 20kpsi it’s red.

and on the way up, some flashy lights and techno in the backround

Liebert Global Services > APC

My opinion may be biased becouse my pa duke works for them but i’ve had one of there UPC in my room for at least a year now and it still holds a charge and is very reliable.

i work with tripp lite alot here @ work (ingram micro) they are a good product,

wow, a UPS that lasts a year? you must be super-duper-proud

tripp lite is sorta-ok-is stuff from what I’ve seen, plenty good for the home user.

j/k - but uh APCC is pretty much the established standard, just don’t buy their cheapo consumer oriented CRAP. 6-7 years is pretty damned good for batteries, suck it up and buy new ones bulk or from them - on the ones that deformed / leaked you can probably get them to RMA them if you bitch hard enough.

batteries only last a couple of years.
it is the replacements that deformed/leaked.

the APC’s themselfs are 6-7 y/o.

what I am left with is…
is it the APC, non apc replacement batteries, lousey GI power quality etc…
