Attn: computer experts

I got a “new” computer at work that used to belong to someone else. The computer needs a password to log onto the computer and I don’t have that password. The guy that used to have the computer works at another office and never answers his phone.

Does anybody know how I can get into my computer? It is the windows xp professional log in.

take the screws out of the side!

I use a bootable cd that has a bunch of “tools” on it to reset passwords.

can you reinstall xp? You don’t want anyone else’s problems anyway.

try loggin in as username - admin and a blank password

It’s just the WIndows XP local account that is asking for the password? it’s not in a domain environment with your own login and password?

I have been forced to give someone a ‘new’ computer before. I hate doing that, its just someone else’s hand-me-downs. There is always some weird quirk with ‘someone else’s’ computer until you format it…

the default account is ‘administrator’ not admin.

It’s the windows login that is asking for the password, I can try to login to a huge number of places. I was trying to login to “this computer”

I already tried both Administrator and Guest and neither worked.

where can I get these programs that reset all the passwords

http://www.loginrecovery.com/

it costs money to get the passwords right away, but if you run the bootable floppy and wait a day and re-login to thier site, it gives you the passwords anyway

Google Austrumi. Use the ISO and make a CD. Boot and change local login account.

Good luck.

cant you just reboot in safe mode, create a new account and set it to have admin privelages?

no… just run a program called nt password. Basicly what it does is restore the password to blank. You will never get to see what the actual password is but it will remove the password from the admin on a local machine and restore it to default. Do a google search for nt password youll find it. youll have to burn it as a rom so it boots from the cd you burnt it off of.
