I’ll admit that I don’t know a ton about unions, but I do not know one positive thing they do for a company. I know they are out to protect the workers, but there wont be a need for workers if the company goes under.
I knew it was going to be denied. The stipulations were nothing that the UAW would want to hear(oh my word cut wages, that’s blasphemy!!!) and since the UAW has both feet and hands in the cookie jar in Detroit they’re a major player.
It’s a bitter and sweet IMO. The loss of any one of those companies will yield a major trickle effect down the line to thousands of americans and businesses alike, however granting billions of dollars to companies who’s operating expenses are drastically more than their income is just running circles.
The advertising these companies set forth for example, is point blank rediculous. It’s understandable that serious money must be spent to advertise your product when your company is as large as any one of these, however when you’re spending billions upon billions in advertising in a time when nobody is going to buy your shit, don’t you think it’s best to cut back? 2/3’rds of commercials on TV are auto, and I’d say 2/3rds of those are from Detroit. Never mind the paper and radio ads…
The whole UAW standing was inevitable. Unions as a whole need to either step back or restructure and think about the broad picture vs the tunnel vison they have at the moment.
Ah I could rant all day about this to no avail. I’m all for aiding companies who need the support but not for those who can’t pull their heads out of their ass, lay the fucking law down amongst themselves, and cut absurb spending that in a time like this is not needed nor warranted. without that, you’re better off just burning and money that’s given because the end result is just the same: waste.
I’m HotWings and that’s what I think…
fuck hotwings listen to stern
Don’t hijack thread…FBHW in the morning, and I listen to stern on sirrius later on. Best of both worlds
back to topic at hand…
sorry and fuck that bail out why not fix other things with the money
why are you for aiding companies who need support? don’t we live in a “free-market” and “capitalistic” economy/state where survival of the fittest is our ideology?
what do you think about social programs like free health care, and even welfare?
Why is an American car company having more efficient cars NOT in America? :confused
im guessing it has something to do with the price and consumption of oil…
This topic/thread is not about my political beliefs nor what I think about HC and welfare so keep a lid on it. You want to start a new thread on that, fine go ahead. This is not the place. K? Thanks…
What I’m saying as that sometimes I do think that certain companies need assistance because if they go under, so do many many other business that otherwise ARE doing their job in the economy and are doing good despite the big man on top. However if those said big companies and their CEO’s/shareholders/boards/whoever the fuck runs them… will not wake the fuck up and do their part in cutting spending costs or whatever else may be needed to save money and their own asses, instead of just taking free money and blowing it right out the door…then fuck them and let them burn to the ground. Collateral damage in the end…
In the end, either way it goes, people are going to get burned. If it wasn’t for the fact that many other people/businesses are going to burn if/when one goes under or closes then I’d personally just pull the plug right now(if i had that power of course). I don’t give a rats ass about them personally, I buy euro cars anyway.
Im a worker, not a business owner, so being in a union IMO is great for me. I know im getting a raise every year, i know how much its going to be, and I pay $20 a month for benefits for my family.
+1
but think of the business owners! you’re taking away from their 3rd house payment and vacations and all the cars they need!
you should be working 12 hour days / 6 days a week and have a curfew after work! all while making $25 a day.
f u state employee :lol
look at state jobs. They are hurting big time. The big wigs don’t make a ton. Explain that one.
union workers tend to be unmotivated (not all… I’m not attacking anyone). Whats the point of doing extra work or putting in all your effort if you aren’t going to get anything more in return?
;D ;D ;D for now anyway! Hopefully our union isn’t as greedy as the UAW. :ohnoes
I sincerely hope that’s sarcasm. You cant be that stupid.
Wow dude. Wow.
The typical state worker that I have worked with have as much intelligence as one of my pubic hairs. It’s insulting and degrading to even be associated with them in as a resident of the same state. Take some pride in your work. GrandMassa knows what I am talking about.
However, GrandMassa has a good point. They really don’t make THAT much monies. I am referring to the higher grades.

The Commissioner of the Office of Mental Health pulls in 136K a year.
My GF is approaching that. To be honest, I think that is underpaid given the position.
most definitely underpaid
