definitely, definitely A LOT more idiots than geniuses from what I have seen.
Wow, VP level positions at my work pull more than that.
my moms a state treasurer brings home around 180k a year
i hate her and my lucky little brother how gets all the perks of her new position
Bailout went through.
Great. Now they can continue to drive themselves further into debt until the inevitable happens (BANKRUPTCY).
Sigh
what news are you reading?
White House considers auto rescue
still not really all that happy about it… i’m glad they got it cause i keep my job but after christmas i’m not spending a DIME!
What?
The Bush administration said Friday it might use taxpayer dollars set aside to bail out banks and Wall Street firms to keep troubled U.S. automakers out of bankruptcy.

you should have heard WGY (810am) at 6am. :idiots .
It’s actually a loan, not a “bailout.”
Whatever. Same bullshit.
i dont see how my statement can be confused for not being sarcasim…i just said im pro-union in another post on this thread…
yea…
No. nothing went through.
fuckin Bush bailed them out anyway. :headbang
sooo stupid. They are doomed and nothing has changed.
I heard lots of new commercials today… that were terrible. Not saying they changed anything or fixed anything nor do they have a better product… but they said that Americans have the wrong impression of them and this 1 minute long commercial will fix that by explaining which companies are “domestic” car companies.
I was definately hoping they wouldnt be given a cent. Survival of the fittest.
In the end they’ll either adapt to the current market or go bankrupt within a year,
Gov won’t be bailing them forever, too much money needed for that. Sucks that they drove domestic auto industry into the ground, but bailing them out will just delay the inevitable. At least this way the workers will have the time to find some other job as opposed to a 3 million strong workforce being dumped on the street at once.
im still looking for my bail out moneys… 50 grand cash money tax free mother fuckers… where it at? :angry2
i know i still have a job but i don’t know for how long… but to say the product is crap is a very blanket statement
after driving around this weekend in a new saturn outlook (same as the arcadi, and the new chevy) i was blowing buy plows, 4wd trucks and 18 wheels on the northway coming home from queensbury friday night and going back up saturday morning and well as going into the albany store today… the thing never once got loose or out of control and i was trying to blow the tires off the thing at every light… then to add to the awesome handling in the weather it had hid’s, heated seats, sat nav, leather, remote start, 19 alloy wheels and seating for 7 all while all while i averaged 25 mpg…
i would put any forgien car up aginst that car in the price range and you would be hard to find any reason why not to buy the saturn… it’s got all the likes of a bigger suv but smaller, handle’s better, and gets great mpg with a v6 but still has great pull and doesn’t feel slugish at all
i’ve driven the acura mdx as well as the toyota sequoia/ toyota 4runner i really don’t see a huge difference to them other then the label on the hoods
sure it was a blanket statement.
but still I would never buy a “saturn luxury SUV” A car is more than the sum of its parts and the price. To sell it you need to capture my imagination, Acura did that with their variable vane turbo and “SH” all wheel drive… Forrester does it by doing everything the saturn can but with a proven formula they have been using for years… and oh yea its 10k cheaper.
So I can break this down into a complaint and suggestion.
-
GM, FORD, and Chrysler: Stop telling me that I have been thinking wrongly about your products in thinking that they suck in general. If I think they suck, spend money changing them… not on an expensive PR campaign.
-
Start paying attention to the total package to give each manufacturer and car a feel of its own… If a car has a unique and new technology, is light, agile, powerful, and inexpensive that is only one small part of why I buy a car. If my 2.5RS was driven by Corky Romano instead of Colin Mcrae, I would NOT have bought it. A porsche boxer is supposed to be classy because its porsche… despite this, its not… Its a wife’s porsche, you buy it for your girl when you have the money to toss around and she wants that a car with that badge on the front. Even though its quick and handles well… I don’t want one! GM FORD and Chrysler need to figure out how this works.
you havn’t dirven them tho to given a comparison as to what the gm cars feel like
the outlook has VVT, and stabilitack control for it’s awd system which has been proven to be one of the best traction control systems on the market… which is on par with your SH from honda or anything else from toyota
and the subura’s that get such great control in this weather were getting passes like they were standing still by the outlook this weekend and i still pulled the same mpg and able to carry 2 more people
but i see your argument and the one thing i am critical of is the fact that the domestic market doesn’t have anything good when it comes to an awd small car, (2dr or 4dr) and turbo. after seeing the sucess from mitsu and subura and even ford over in europe you would think they would be all over getting that over here in the US… the cobalt turbo motor has been proven to be a great motor for mpg’s and power… now put that motor in the same car with an awd system and older people and young ones would by that car faster then they already are… it’s things like this i wish they would do
but still the market still calls for vehicles larger then wagons, the big 3 were just to late to get behind doing it with a smaller more efficient motor
