i just baught another 1991 but this time a SE hatch with 70k miles :wackit: the only rust on the car is the driver site frame rail has got a 4 inch section of rot that seemed to come out of no where on this otherwise clean chassis. the frame rail is rotted on the bottom and both sides. i have a welder and have done simalar work on my last '91 on the floorpan, i need to know what guage steel the frame rails are?

wasn’t that our uprgrade size for custom rockers? ie; 18
yea hes talking frame rail… which is a bit thicker then the rockers…
and the rockers arent any thinner then 20 ga… 22 would be pusshing it big time.
and we decided on 16ga for the rockers bud 
silly me, read thouroghly, I saw floorpan
18 guage is aprox 1/16 inch, 11 guage is 1/8 inch, whitch one is it?
??? i just picked up the car today, just curious as i want to fix this before NYS inspection
1/8’’ would be 8.5 ga actually… not 11
14 ga is appox 1/16’’
and I meant 18ga and/or 1/8’’ is more then enough… should have typed more :lol:
