Bennyfizzle's dicktone 318i build thread.

What? The subframe or the reinf on the M3 chassis?

the reinforcements on the m3 chassis looked fine.

I’m sure the scrapyard owner will be pleased to hear that.

alot of lolz were had.

nice shell man, u scored big like fuckin a fat chick

next yr will be dope

That’s the spirit!

Quick update:

Apparently the 318 rear subframe and control arms are the same as the 6cyl 325/328, and are therefore interchangeable with my M3 stuff that is totally shot.

Sooo, just gonna drop the 318’s subframe, stuff all the goodies into it, and toss that back in there.

Then comes the motor stuff.

Goodies, cant wait to see it out Friday :lol

Yeah that’s not happening.

Good stuff man. Apparently the front subframe bushing holes in an M3 are ever so slightly larger (2 mm, or 0.080") than on the 325s, I suspect it’s the same for the 318s. It’s no biggie though. I think the vendors tend to specify the M3 bushings for the non-Ms anyways seeing as it’s a better fit.

What will you be doing for trailing arms? As I’m sure you know, the M3 stuff is noticeably different (and stronger) here with larger axle and bearing diameters.

using the M3 trailing arms, praying that Adam can salvage them.

all of the e36 subframes have 60.5mm front bushings and 62mm rear bushings.

That’s strange… I read on the “E36 BMWs are like Legos” site that M and non-M ones are different. Not that it really matters, now I’m just wondering which is correct.

According to:
http://www.protoworks.com/cgi-bin/C-C_Wiki.pl?E36_BMWs_Are_Like_Legos

"The E36 non-M3 rear subframe is different than the M3 subframe, but the difference is insignificant: the front mounting bushings are 2mm larger in diameter on the M3. "

I had an M one and non-M one side by side but didn’t measure… Oh well, this is about as useful as a fart in an elevator anyways.

Hit me up if you need any parts like trailing arm / upper or lower arms, etc. I basically have an entire spare subframe and TAs with good bearings / axles / boots, basically everything but the caliper / rotor on the TAs. I’ll get the parts cleaned up and try to put it up for sale but if you need some parts contact me.

subaru’s are like legos

'Cause they are pricey, shatter when abused, and 5 year olds have been known to play with them?

Haha j/k man… (Just sour I never owned a WRX/STi)
