This is true to an extent, but honestly it gets a lot harder as time goes on.
Some misfit cars actually had a pretty high sales volume and/or related models that make it easier, but in other cases their misfit status means that it’s actually hard to find parts. This is absolutely true with my LeCar, I mean I can buy wheel bearings and the really common maintenance stuff, but good luck finding an ebrake cable, valve seals, etc.
It’s so out of the market that you also don’t get any swap options, I mean literally there are none. It’s FWD but it actually turns the motor around backwards and puts the driveshaft towards the front. None of the other cars that Renault had in the U.S. are really interchangeable with the LeCar’s parts. Right now my motor and trans are leaking all over. I actually found a NOS rebuild kit, but I’ve basically got the car sitting most of the time because it doesn’t seem worth it to rebuild it for the stock 70hp but if I want to swap something in I have to get it from Europe, so I just keep sitting here wondering what I should do.
