I worked in the car business, therefore I owned a lot of cars in the past. Now that I don’t work at West Herr anymore, I don’t change cars as often as I change underwear. Anyway, here are a few cars I miss.
My beloved 1995 Saab 900 turbo:
I Bought this car after it came in on trade from the Nissan store. It wasn’t super nice, but it was an amazing beater. It had a lot of stupid surface rust, but it ran ad drove amazingly well. It was also very reliable for me. I hardly had to do anything to the car in the year and a half I owned it. It was relatively fast and great on fuel. Every time I see a Saab in this body style I think of how much I miss this car.
1993 Subaru Legacy LS AWD (auto)
I bought this car because I didn’t want to drive my lowered 86 Jetta through the winter of 02-03. I also really wanted to try AWD out for a winter season. This turned out to be one of the best $500 investments ever. I beat the snot out of this car and nothing broke. I sold it to my sister for what I had in it that spring and she drove it another 2 years wth hardly any mechanical issues. she was also in a number if accidents that weren’t her fault, so insurance gave he more than what she paid for the car on 2 occasions. It was such an awesome beater.
1986 Jetta GL
This was the first car I bought that came in on trade from west herr. What a great car. German build, no power steering, working AC, and tons of MK2 parts were around at the time to tweak it. I also swapped a lot of parts from my 85 GTI when I first bought it.
1983 Rabbit GTI
I bought this car after the trans went in my 85 GTI. It was really really rust free. John B. found it for me, when he heard I needed a car. Going from a mk2 to a mk1 was a rough transition. This particular mk1 had more than it’s fair share of rattles. It was a blast to drive, but I grew to loathe it for daily driving duties. I sold it to Dotterweich in favor of the 86 Jetta that I picked up.
1985 GTI
My first GTI. It was mars red, and apparently, was won in a raffle when it was new. I drove this through senior year of high school and the most of my freshman year of college. This is the car that started my love of MK2s.
I’m sure people out there have some stuff to add. Lets see it!
