What car do you wish you owned again??

Hey guys.

I picked up the new issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine yesterday, and they had a page on what kind of car that you owned that you wish you could once again get back. I thought it was an interesting topic. But I’ll expand it further. Have you actually gotten that car back? And what car did you really wish you could’ve gotten, but it slipped away?

This could be interesting! And for more zest, include pics!!!

I’ll go first. lol.

Here’s my car owning list so far. 1993 Honda Accord EX coupe. 1989 Cadillac Sedan DeVille, 2006 Chevy Cobalt SS / 2004 Chevy Monte Carlo SS / 1985 Pontiac Grand Prix. I put the last 3 together since I still own them.

You absolutely never forget your first car / car project. It doesn’t matter what comes after, your first car / project is just like your first sex. lol. Don’t forget it. This is the case for the Accord. It was my first car, and my first project. It was in great condition. I bought it because I was into Hondas, but also because it was one of the only manual Accords I’ve ever seen. It was a great car, and even when I got it, it had 138,000 on it, and ran like it was brand new. That thing kicked ass. I modified it a little, but it was certainly tasteful. I learned what to do, and what not to do. A learning experience. I later sold it for a reasonable ammount to its current owner who then replaced the engine with a dual cam one, put a whole new coil-over suspension, slammed it, and repainted it. The funny thing is, he wants to sell it now, and my girlfriend might buy it. haha! So it’s sorta like I’m getting it back. I know she’d continue enjoying it the same way it’s been enjoyed since 2002. After that, my Cadillac. I liked it alot, but it didn’t like me so much. I added a system, an exhaust, and it taught me how to keep a car really clean. The engine sorta shitted out, so I sold it. I liked it alot, but the engine went, so with a new engine, I wouldn’t mind it again. But the guy that owns it currently and an accident. So the rear is all messed up. Tear…

As I mentioned before, I may get reaquainted with the Accord again, so that’s the 2nd part of the question.

And as for cars that slipped away. Oh god, so many. There were a few that I was only a day or two from owning, when something went wrong: 1994 Chevy Camaro (immaculate), 1985 Cadillac fleetwood Brougham d’Elegance (immaculate and huge, lol). One that I really messed up on: my cousins 1986 Pontiac Fiero GT. Triple silver/grey, all options, immaculate, 16k original miles. Yeah, I messed up. But the guy who now owns it is a collector that owns a '69 Mach-1 as well. Not bad company. But also, the ownes that I guess were never ment to be. 1988 Chevy Camaro IROC-Z 350 (great condition, plus 350), 1989 Honda CRX Si (supercharged and SCCA race prepped), 1985 Chevy Monte Carlo SS (super cheap), and more. Oh well.

Here’s my pic section, for zest! haha.

Sorry for all the pics. lol. Just wanted to add extra zest. So, LET’S HEAR 'EM!!

none of them haha

1969 VW Bug–on a new engine w/ 8 miles on it, backfired thru the carb, caught on fire burned to the ground
1984 Nissan Plusar–someone hit me, totalled
1986 Honda CRX–sold it on it’s last leg 200,000 miles, to a stripper for $500 so she could escape her abusive boyfriend
1990 Mitsu Eclipse–drove it cross country to L.A. and beat it all to hell before selling it for $1000 when I moved to Pgh.

Then I got the Z and the Audi, so my list of cars isn’t that extensive!

If I could have any car my dad had, I’d love to have his 72/73? Saab Sonnet III, I loved that thing. He sold it right before I got my license, didn’t want his little girl driving a fiberglass car…

I’d say both of your new cars trump the old ones.

89 CRX:

It was a steal. Don’t tell me you wouldn’t buy a once SCCA raced CRX with a 1 of a kind Jackson Racing supercharger on it.

I was just making sure you werent saying that you built it. That was a cover car on Grassroots motorsports. Jim at speednation owned that car forever. It had spoon power!!!

Pittracing.com :kekegay:

bwahaha! I remember that spoon. Yep, that car was pretty mean. I just couldn’t sell my Accord quick enough to get it. But it went to a good home. That car was also shown in some other book my friend bought that Mike (?) Ancas wrote. My friend knows him pretty well. That was was shown in that book like twice.

My List in order

1979 Cadillac Sedan Deville
1986 Monte Carlo
1983 Monte Carlo
1987 Pontiac Grand Prix
1979 Jeep Cherokee
1989 Ford Tempo
1994 Chevey Beretta
2001 Hyundai Accent GS - gave to ex because it sucked
1995 Honda Passport
1995 Ford Thunderbird LX
2003 Dodge Durango SXT

I wish I still had the Caddy, the two Montes and the Grand Prix

prob my 03 Cobra

1988 Audi 80

I kinda sorta still have it- as in I can look at it whenever I want to.

my alltrac was incredible :frowning:

the one that i really miss is my 91 S-10
4.3 5spd with posi. that thing was a blast. i drove it for couple years learned a lot from that truck

the other would be my 91 pontiac GP
bought it for $600 with 140k drove it for 2 years put 50k on it and still ran great
never put any money into and sold it for 500 the person i sold it to drove it for 2 more years then lost track of it after that. that was best car i ever owned

By far this was the nicest car ive ever owned …raw power is an understatement .Still have the driveline sitting in my garage (jeff thinks I should put it in my Dakota) and now that barrett jackson has driven the price up sky high on old mopar I think what a fool I was for selling it.

I would like to have my 1962 Buick Special back. It was a 2-spd auto with a v6. I never saw another one on the road until this day, that’s why I liked it.

My favorite/worst car was my SHO, I loved it, but it just a complete hunk of shit. I wouldn’t wish one on my worst enemy.

1 of the 4 f bodies ive owned but mostly the mid 80’s 383 powered camaro . or the maverick grabber i had. or my 2nd gen neon, j/k

Mike owned the car at the time, Jim later bought it off him.

That said, I loved that car. Had a lot of fun the weekend that jim traded cars with me.

Still have my first car project. But, it went through a bit of a loop. I sold it, and about a week after I sold it, went back to the guy and begged it back off of him. Cars are like women. Sexier in other peoples hands.

Here’s my list, in order:

1969 Charger (I was dumb - my dad bought it for me, but I had very little interst in Mopars then)
1976 Grand Prix SJ (technically, my first car, not a show piece, but I loved it anyways)
1977 Malibu 2dr
1977 Grand Prix LJ
1979 Grand Prix LJ (low mileage car, but I sold it when I bought the manual trans car)
1988 Beretta GT 5spd (2nd worse car I owned)
1978 Grand Prix (factory manual trans car - when I was done with it it had a 400 sbc, T56 6 speed) - definately wish I still had this car
1990 454SS (I will have this truck forever - I won’t have to worry about missing it)
1977 Jeep Wagoneer 401v8 (best beater I ever owned - worst gas mileage)
1983 Trans Am - Recaro Pace Car 5spd
1989 Grand Am SE 2.3L (tie for 2nd worse car I owned)
1990 Beretta GTZ 2.3L (worst car I ever owned)
1984 Regal 2dr (nicknamed ‘the bucket’ - nice beater)
1998 Subaru 2.5RS (wish I still had)
1992 GMC Typhoon
1992 Honda Civic si
1990 Chevy K1500 ext cab/8 ft bed (‘poopy’ - completely restored & sold to my dad, who ruined it)
1995 Honda Accord cpe
1997 Acura CL (nice car - wish I still had)
2004 GTO 6M (even with all the issues I had with it, I liked this car & I know it’ll be one I miss in a few years)
1995 Integra LS
2006 Acura TL
1966 GTO (like my truck, I plan on having this car forever)

This list doesn’t count the cars/trucks I’ve bought/sold to make a buck. There are a good bit of those, as well.
