Hey guys.
I picked up the new issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine yesterday, and they had a page on what kind of car that you owned that you wish you could once again get back. I thought it was an interesting topic. But I’ll expand it further. Have you actually gotten that car back? And what car did you really wish you could’ve gotten, but it slipped away?
This could be interesting! And for more zest, include pics!!!
I’ll go first. lol.
Here’s my car owning list so far. 1993 Honda Accord EX coupe. 1989 Cadillac Sedan DeVille, 2006 Chevy Cobalt SS / 2004 Chevy Monte Carlo SS / 1985 Pontiac Grand Prix. I put the last 3 together since I still own them.
You absolutely never forget your first car / car project. It doesn’t matter what comes after, your first car / project is just like your first sex. lol. Don’t forget it. This is the case for the Accord. It was my first car, and my first project. It was in great condition. I bought it because I was into Hondas, but also because it was one of the only manual Accords I’ve ever seen. It was a great car, and even when I got it, it had 138,000 on it, and ran like it was brand new. That thing kicked ass. I modified it a little, but it was certainly tasteful. I learned what to do, and what not to do. A learning experience. I later sold it for a reasonable ammount to its current owner who then replaced the engine with a dual cam one, put a whole new coil-over suspension, slammed it, and repainted it. The funny thing is, he wants to sell it now, and my girlfriend might buy it. haha! So it’s sorta like I’m getting it back. I know she’d continue enjoying it the same way it’s been enjoyed since 2002. After that, my Cadillac. I liked it alot, but it didn’t like me so much. I added a system, an exhaust, and it taught me how to keep a car really clean. The engine sorta shitted out, so I sold it. I liked it alot, but the engine went, so with a new engine, I wouldn’t mind it again. But the guy that owns it currently and an accident. So the rear is all messed up. Tear…
As I mentioned before, I may get reaquainted with the Accord again, so that’s the 2nd part of the question.
And as for cars that slipped away. Oh god, so many. There were a few that I was only a day or two from owning, when something went wrong: 1994 Chevy Camaro (immaculate), 1985 Cadillac fleetwood Brougham d’Elegance (immaculate and huge, lol). One that I really messed up on: my cousins 1986 Pontiac Fiero GT. Triple silver/grey, all options, immaculate, 16k original miles. Yeah, I messed up. But the guy who now owns it is a collector that owns a '69 Mach-1 as well. Not bad company. But also, the ownes that I guess were never ment to be. 1988 Chevy Camaro IROC-Z 350 (great condition, plus 350), 1989 Honda CRX Si (supercharged and SCCA race prepped), 1985 Chevy Monte Carlo SS (super cheap), and more. Oh well.
