I wanna see it get crash tested.
That is all kinds of wild.
Word.
Seeing an idea like this always makes me look ahead at what cars are possibly going to look like when I’m 60.
It’s pretty badass.
Awesome concept idea.
Wonder if you have to take the skin off and throw it in the washer if a bird shits on it.
what a cool concept
yeah i cant imagine it holding up in safety test but w/e its fawkin gorgeous!
you think that your 30# sheetmetal hood is what saves you in a crash?
:sigh:
You just IRON OUT YOUR DENTS
no but i think it hold up a little better than fabric
sheetmetal weight, density,= more resistance than fabric
That is amazing, i’d love to see this thing actually perform a test run and see the capabilities.
Less weight used on the body = more weight that can be used for reinforcement. And depending on the fabric used it could have very good puncture resistance.
However I couldn’t imagine the long term durability being any good.
what a horrible equation. weight/density are irrelivant to “resistance”.
Use a kevlar weave with some silica injected polyethylene glycol and the stuff could be very strong and amazing for this application
Edit: info for people who don’t watch random stuff in HD, just because it’s in HD
saw that stuff… amazingly simple solution to make kevlar puncture resistant.
A lot of backing reenforcement will be needed at high speeds so the aerodynamics don’t change. Planes have fabric wings but the are not meant to stretch and deform like the car fabric. I suppose if you made the car one shape when sitting still the affect of the wind pressure at speed could deform the fabric into a better shape for speed and handling. The rear wing was cool.
I bet the car looks scared at 120 mph because the wind will blow the eyelids open more.
Hey I searched for the obvious, BMW Gina and found nothing.
it would have been much cooler if volkswagen put out this car.
the VAG Gina.
