BMW Gina concept car / Fabric Body *VID*

Umm holy shit. It’s an amazing concept. Obviously not very practical for the real world but still extremely cool.

I wonder how this stuff holds up to high speeds and tearing.

The water-resistant material is stretched over a lightweight frame that can change its shape as you drive in a process that’s visually akin to Bruce Banner’s transformation into the Hulk. There are no visible gaps in the car’s “body” except the door openings, the headlight covers open like cat’s eyes, the taillights shine through the fabric and the engine is accessed through what looks like a surgical incision in the “hood.”

how did you find this?

that’s awesome.

holy crap, thats sick!

Someone at work was talking about it. Said he saw in on Fox News so at first I was like. “it’s probably fake” lol.

lol… pretty cool, i cant imagine what somebody could do to it with a knife? people could break in so easy, etc etc… concept is cool, but to many problems (expensive ones too)

and how much money that would save people…has to be so cheap to repair body work. no more scratches, dents, etc…

thats sick…

good bye door dings…

now instead of getting your car keyed… it will now get cut up! ha

and rather than taking it to delta sonic, you’ll take it to the dry cleaners

damn…when the headlight opened up my jaw hit the floor.

I’d love to see it without the skin too…

just thinking about how much body weight you’re dropping with this… 0-60 times must be amazing!!!

That’s wild.

WOW. Thats amazing. This and the body panels made from smart metals that shape shift are awesome innovations

thats why american cars dont rule the automotive industry

You’ve solved it. The domestic automotive industry is having a low because a foreign company made a concept car covered in fabric.

Have you ever read up on some of the concepts that GM or Ford come up with?

Implementation is the problem, not necessarily ideas.

The headlights opening is kinda freaky

AMAZING IDEA!

Seriously, toss in a S65B40 and that will be one BAD ASS vehicle. Anyone catch or know how much weight is dropped by cloth skin?

agreed…however the reality of the situation is people can break in to everything if they’re motivated enough.

love the concept though.

I cannot wait to see where this leads in the future.

With the right material, and some kevlar weave, it would be cut proof.
