Yes I’m comparing it because how many BMW race cars (since you brought up the whole heritage) do you see as a convertible? Just about none? Oh ok. They’re adapting to a changing market which demands efficiency and diesel is just about the best option for efficiency. It’s not like their flagship M cars are diesel (M3 & M5). I’m sure the BMW M purists were up in arms when they offered the M3s as a convertible and in automatic/SMG, but guess what, it sold cars and that’s the object of the game.
