i beleive that i have a busted motor mount and i need some advice on what i should do about this. Im almost positive im gona need someone to weld this for me. If anyone can help me out, i will provide beer/food for the help. the car abviosly has no motor so i would need you to come out to me to work on it. thanks guys. here is a picture of my prediciment.
ttt
its easy to replace it… just gotta drill out the spot welds, then get a new one and weld that in.
edit: that is a perfect break if you want to throw in an H22a.
im pretty sure thats why its broken in the first place! i heard from someone that there used to be an h22 in my car. guess i have some drilling to do. anyone wanna help me weld one back in?
EDIT: im gonna try to get the brakes all hooked up and working so i can tow the car, so if anyone can help me out, i think ill be able to come to you, thanks.
do you have the missing piece?
no. i just noticed this 2 days ago. if i get a whole new part and drill out the old one, can u help me weld in a new one?
well my welder isnt small, and its 220v
but if i can borrow a 110 welder (i think viper966 said he had one that could be borrowed) id be happy to weld it in for you
what if i hook up my brakes and tow it to you, where are u located?
sorry to go OT, but all i see when i read your title is
broken motor mount(ain) on civic
hatchback!!
haha thanks for noticing :gay3:
flat black engine bay FTW tho.
yea thats freshly sprayed. perrty.
i got the old mount out, took lots of drilling but i got it. im gonna need someone to weld this for me. I will provide food/drinks or whatever. If you have a welder and can come out here, that is prefered. but i will come to you if i need to. ill have to tow the car which isnt the greatest plan, but ya gotta do what u gotta do, i know hotrodkid said he may be able to borrow viper699’s welder. viper, if u see this please pm me. thanks fellas. heres a pic of the mount drilled out. the new one will be here this week.
um … fuck … you should have said something before you drilled the mount out, i have the rotobroach spot weld cutter kit
spot welds are supposed to be removed from only the top layer of metal … and then you chissle the top layer off if its still stuck here and there
dont throw out the old mount yet … ill need itto scribe the original outline, that way there line is IN the metal and i can sand off the paint and do a perimeter weld to maintain the strength of the mounting
This is a pretty critical piece to be welding it takes alot of abuse. I hope your welder is up to the task. Good luck.
yeah, not so easy to just drill the top layer, thats what i was trying to do but it leaves too much behind, maybe i should have used the angle grinder to get out the welds. oh well too late now, lets do our best to make it as strong as possible. u up for going at it next weekend?
BUMP, HotRodKid, i really need your help. Thanks
we can do it this weekend as long as we can borrow Vipers’ mig welder, but if it uses acid core wire instead of an argon tank we will need to do this using my welder
if we have to use my welder, either the car has to come to me, or if you have a 220v outlet withing 25 feet of the garage we can transport my welder to getthe job done there
ok, should i pm viper or do u wanna do it? u know this weekend might not be the best weekend since its easter im gonna have to go to the girlfriends families house, i havent accounted for that, but ill find out tonight. So yeah, if not are u busy next weekend? I appreciate the help man, ur a life saver. Ttyl
i can work on it saturday till about 3, wanna meet up in the morning, where do u live if i have to tow the car out there? any word on the welder?
