:ugh2:

im thinking about some chrome c5s and find a set but only 8.5 inch

I’ve got 275/40/17 BFG drag radials on 17x8 wheels…the tires are slightly too big, but they fit, and they hook well at the track. They are probably horrible for handling, as when they’re running 25 or more PSI the contact path is greatly reduced due to the tire being stretched on the rim.

If you care at all about handling, I wouldn’t mount 275s on an 8.5" wheel. I think you need at least 9" for a proper fit.

275 is for 9" rims

i had them on mine and it was fine looked good didnt buldge

People in the autocross world that run in “stock” classes have to keep the stock size wheel, but they can run any tire they want as long as it fits. It is not uncommon with a honda to see a 225/45R14 shoved on to a stock 14x5 honda alloy. Optimnal no ,but fastest combination legal yes. so to answer your question you should be fine.

I also have 275 dr’s mounted on 8" rims. Ran them all season on and off the track with no problem
