I want to put some 17x8s on my beetle, but most guys can’t fit more than a 205 on the front without rubbing. Is a 205/40/17 too much of a stretch?
I will be fine with whatever size in the rear.

i think it’s gonna the way the 8" stretches the tire and will create problems. What is the stock wheel offset and width?
walkers got like 175s on 9s or something insane.
the stock wheel is a 15x5

Where do you get YOUR information from?
Click on “Specs” all the 205/40 17s recommend between 7"-8"
^ cool, I have a 225 on there now but I will be rubbing the spring with it. I can still run 235s in the rear though

That’s why I asked what is stock wheel width and offset is.
Now if you can’t put a certain size tire on without clearance issues, how are you going to go that much wider on the wheel?
I’m not talking about if the tire fits the wheel, I’m talking about if the wheel fits the car.
