You can start with the compression test, but once you see the compression is off you’ll probably end up wanting a leakdown to determine where the problem lies.

We do compression and leakdown testing here if you need it.

well, if you have nasty compression, and exhaust that smells like coolant…compression test it, and check to see what the oil looks like. if its milky brown you HG shat the bed. and if thats the case, i hope you have been watching your temp gauge, cause if its been running hot you may need to have the head resurfaced for true-ness when you put the new HG in.

I check the temp all the time. More than i do my tach or my speedo lol cause my mazda overheated all the time.The teg has never has run hot,always @ normal temp range.My oil is normal brown in color and shit because its due for a change soon. Im loosing coolant , not rapidly but it deff is using it.It doesnt leak anywhere but my coolant res is almost empty after about 2 weeks.My exhaust smells like coolant but not all the time every once in a while, my fan never even kicks on, the motor never gets abnormally hot under the hood so idk where the coolant is going or why.

Just a note: You can get a cheaper comp. tester…its like any gauge…wel, anything. The cheaper it is the less accurate. BUT, I’ve used a cheap one for year and for shits n giggle compared to a higer price one that my friend had, it was like 10+/-psi diff.

Also, have u checked ur plugs?

**Leak down test is gonna be the deal breaker. get the leakdown test done.

Mmm sounds familiar. My eclipse didnt exactly pass these tests, now did it Mike :meh: haha.

(oh btw, the kid I sold it to is still driving it with the head that way somehow)
