Looking into a new front bumper since mine’s beat, and a new wing (prob. stock 1990-1993 TT wing) for the spring, and just curious about two different terms…

found a website that deals in OEM parts for tons of cars, and they’re asking $280 shipped for a new front “bumper cover” as they call it…the picture looks like the bumper itself though…so i’m assuming they use the word bumper cover because it is the plastic cover for what is the actual structural bumper of the car…

but then, i’m worried that this bumper cover isn’t what i want…because on a different site, they are selling new OEM front facia’s for the Z TT, but for $500!

which is the one i want? or are they the same part…just one outrageously more expensive than the other…

oh and if anybody knows where i can find an early year TT Z32 flushmount wing, please inform me…

bumper cover = fascia = those plastic pieces on the ends of the car that hold the paint, while the steel / aluminium / plastic bar behind it does the actual work of “bumping” (hence the name bumper)

the bar is also refered to as:
crash bar
impact absorber
rebar

Your bumper is the bar behind the cover or ‘facia.’

The cheaper website is likley selling a non-OEM facia where as Z1 is selling an actual Nissan made (OEM) part. Genuine Nissan parts are more expensive than you generic parts, but in the case of bumpers, it’s a much better bet that the OEM bumper will have a much better fit.
