I am looking between the two right now. CarFax is $729/month and AutoCheck is $599/month. Both offer simular features, but I like the people for customer service at AutoCheck wayyy better. So, I am thinking that there is only 1 way this would be worth it for me. That’s if I can offer the service to you guys for $7-$10 a VIN maybe a 1 for $10 2 for $15 deal or something. That way the 10-20 cars I’m guessing I would run for people here a month would make a dent in the bill for me. The question is would you guys be interested? Poll will be up shorty.
I definitely wouldn’t pay $7-10 for 1 VIN to be checked.
i use this

Any logic behind it? Any suggestion on a more fair price? Going rate for 1 VIN through either of them is between $30-$40 right now for a non-dealer private party customer.
The general public knows Carfax…
I’ve always used Carfax and when I didn’t have a hookup readily available I’d just pay the $30 or what ever it was for a month worth of checks. It’s always amazed me how cheap people are when spending 10000 or more on a car when talking about tacking on an extra $30-40 for a carfax account. To me the convenience of having an account that gives me instant access to the reports when I’ve reached that serious shopping phase of getting a new car is easily worth the money. I don’t change vehicles as often as underwear like some people on here though.
As for your dealership I’m guessing either would give your average buyer the peace of mind they’re looking for. In the rare case you get some asshole customer who refuses to pay for a carfax and won’t accept your autocheck it would be a business decision to run one for him then just pad the price $50 or tell him to fuck off.
Voted either and could not pay just because I know when I go to buy another car I’ll just get my own 1-month account and use it as much and when ever I want as opposed to paying per vin and having to wait for you to get back to me.
EDIT:
I see they’ve changed it to $45 for 5 now. Kind of shitty, but I don’t think I’ve run much more than that when looking at cars.
Wait a minute…I thought Carfax was like 20 bucks a month for unlimited checks?
All State Motor Club gives you unlimited carfax reports and that only costs $15 per month. You don’t need allstate insurance either, it’s a AAA competitor. AAA might even provide carfax reports.
This. Name is known i know alot of dealer use the other, but public doesnt know the name.
