dont remind me. my eclipse wasnt that low. it sat 4 fingers off the ground, i could barely avoid shit like that. i never clipped anything, but still! it was tough navigating around in that
albany is not bad to drive a lowered car in. i can’t belive how many people think it is. my exhaust currently its 2 inches from the ground, barely ever scrape on anything. its all about knowing how to drive a lowered car. i can get in places that just make people think what in the fuck. yes it takes more patience and attention, but if you want to drive an absolutly hammered car, albany is just as good of a place as anywhere else, hell i look at my front end and just know i need to lower it back down.
agreed. i had to find another way to get to some spots, but it was doable for the most part. it looked more like slalom driving when i drove the eclipse. prolly looked like i was swerving drunk at times cuz id see something on the road and just move to avoid it.
my main problem is that the paving is too thin when its done. they dont add much so it tends to crack and buckle and chip away fast. Theres lots of bad spots by the bus station in Albany. On Green street(right behind the station under the bridges) theres a massive hole. its shaped like a figure 8 and its about 4 inches deep. this is a rim killer. if u go over that, ur wheel falls in the hole, hits the middle part, bounces up and hits the outer edge right away. it looks nasty. if u dont usually drive there, be VERY carefull
i’ve hit some nasty shit and have yet to bend a wheel. the solution…don’t buy cheap wheels. and keep tires properly inflated.
how tall are your tires?
your wheel bent/broke because it was a cheap replica of a quality wheel… the J-lines are a high quality, forged aluminum, versus your low quality, cheap cast alumiloy wheel you had… big difference in strength
his tires look like 35s or so
235/35/18 and 265/35/18. i have 215/40/17 and 245/40/17 and 275/40/17 on my volks. ran 205/40/17 on the racing harts back in the day. never have messed up a wheel except for that one day i parked to close to a curb and totaling cars.
:highjack
Well I’m not going to repost my same old 962 stuff as everyone knows that but going off the title of the thread, the car that inspired me to do the prototype development and fabrication that I do today…the Audi 90 IMSA GTO quattro. Not to be mistaken for the 200TQ, this car is rarely seen these days and even more rare to see it under it’s own power on a track. This car was the pinnacle of prototype performance and is most impressive up close and personal. I pulled alot of my techniques from this exact car.
Old skool technology that still demands respect today. This car dominated like the '83 Quattro Sport did in Rally.
There are a handful of ultra superior technology race cars(new and vintage) that I would kill to have in a collection somewhere, this is one of those few.
i saw that car in person… well one of the Audi 90 trans am cars. at a museum in Vegas.
Yea that’s the 200TQ out there. I’ve got some pictures of it here from the museum too. The GTO is the massively widebody sex machine above. There’s one in the states that travels around to exhibits every now and then. It was here locally in the Saratoga Auto Museum like 5-6 years ago at an Audi exhibit. Just a jaw dropping machine that I could(and did) spend days looking over every detail.
Oh just noticed…second picture I posted above…car right behind the GTO…that’s a 200TQ ;D
the problem with the one in vegas is the ropes around it and its in the corner so you cant get any good pictures, all mine have the ropes in it… car is sick though. i dont remember if its the 200 or the 90 they had havent looked at the pictures in a long time
whats wrong with this picture?
it’s got two fake turbos
its twin charged… the only problem i see, is the use of Snow Performance methanol kit.
Id have to say Rhys Millens GTO
(I just Broke my Front Bumper in 2 This Bumbper may be in the near future :ninja)
yea…like filling the tank when empty. either he’s got an access hole, or just likes running around sans front skirt :nuts
I’m only gonna be livin in albany during the summer for the next 5 years, other than that florida ftw!
oh, no doubt, i know that. i looked at jlines before, theyre pretty nice. i like victor mulsanne wheels, but theyre not gonna fit, they have porsche lugs, so i dont think ill get wheels with a flat lip. ill prolly find something else with a step lip eventually.
(i wonder who will get this :ohnoes)
